Thinking about moving to Rockford

Hey folks! I’ve been thinking about moving and establishing my forever home with the family. I’m a born and raised Memphian, so Rockford would allow me to escape this humid nightmare and still be close enough to family to visit somewhat conveniently.

I’m 30 have a spouse and some toddlers. They aren’t in school yet but will be soon. I worked in Tech, love a good local beer scene, play games, dnd, and do model building. Having green space is a must, I can’t stand concrete jungles. I already know wherever I go that crime will be much less than where I’m at, so I’m not worried about stats. I know how to avoid the bad parts of towns.

I’m just looking for some brutally honest opinions about Rockford.

Thinking about moving to Peoria.

Edit:
This has been very insightful, thank you. I definitely have a lot to consider. It sounds like Peoria will generally be an improvement, y’all don’t seem to have many cons that I’m not already seeing here in Memphis.

The talk of humidity seems to be somewhat contentious, from what I gather it looks to be categorically different

Dryer Making a Rhythmic Thumping Noise

Came home to my dryer sounding like this. My ears tell me it has to be something mechanical, maybe something just happened to give today. It happens on start up and lines up with the spin of the drum

I just wish drawing on pyramids wasn’t so miserable

It’s like a waterfall

This is pretty much the standard where I live. Everyone drives and parks terribly

I had to make one too

I told my wife about the printer Mii I saw on reddit, she demanded one of her own.

Thank you u/Aspharon for the quality meme idea.
