Laserdisc Games

I’m curious. What are the technical limitations of the MiSTer that would prevent games like Astron Belt or Begas Battle to run on it? I haven’t seen any of these mentioned as possible cores and it would seem to be fairly easy.

Anker Soundcore Liberty 5 Pro

I’m not paid by Anker in any way…but I thought I’d give a little review on these. I use these for work, and I’ve been using them for a few days and thought I’d give some impressions. I own these, Airpods Pros 2s, and Sony WH and WF-1000MX5. The WH-1000MX5 (over the ear) has been my go to for the last 3 years, but lately, it has disconnected a lot from my PC and so I decided to try something new. I also own some Bose QC Ultras, but they suck for the environment I work in (poor mic noise cancellation)

I work in a noisy environment. It’s not quite a call center, but we have reps calling all over the country. The ANC is excellent, and unlike the Sony buds, I don’t have to jam them into my ears. It’s not as good as the over-the- ear headphones, but close, and probably 95% as good as the Sony buds, but more comfortable. In fact, these are extremely comfortable and I didn’t have to take my once-per-hour break.

The calling is great. I’ve never had a customer comment on voice quality, but I had two say that my voice sounded clearer. We had a team stand up and clap and also a fire drill and my customers didn’t hear any of it.

The case is nice too. Since I’m using a Windows PC, I can’t use the app, so being able to make some adjustments on the case is great!

Sound quality is kind of a mixed bag. Voices sound OK, but I’d prefer louder volume. I haven’t tested it with music to extensively, but anecdotally, the mid range didn’t sound great. I’ll try more music and update this.

The one big downside is battery life. The battery life is atrocious. After 3 hours of phone calls, I’m down to 50%. The Sony buds are normally at 80% and the over-the-ears are close to 90%. The Liberty 5 Pros charge quickly on USB-C, but I’m concerned about long term battery life. The 15 minutes of charging for 4 hours of use is a little exaggerated. This may depend on the charger you use, but it took 35 minutes to get back to 80%. Not bad, but could be better.

I didn’t use the AI features because I don’t care. These aren’t the Max so I don’t have the big touchscreen.

All in all, I think these will be my daily driver. 8.5/10, but the feature I need to work REALLY work well. I can’t speak to music or cell phone use yet.

Does anyone fix Retrotinks?

I sold a Retrotink 4K on eBay, sent it, and apparently the USPS smashed it somehow because the outer case looks fine but there’s something rattling around inside. Buyer is sending it back to me, but I’d like to see if there’s ANYTHING that can be done to salvage the device. Does anyone fix these at all?
