Recommendations for trauma therapy programs in the twin cities

IOP programs for complex ptsd or chronic ptsd

Hi all- I’m checking in to see if anyone has any ideas. I’m currently in a prariecare program and have not been impressed. Ideally I’m looking for an intensive therapy program that meets daily/ multiple times a week that has a focus on dealing with triggers rather than depression. I’ve tried Roger’s in the past and it was also not super helpful.

Otherwise I’m also looking for a psychiatrist that works specifically with trauma.

Thank you in advance. - please be gentle I’m in a rough spot and looking to get some help.

Borderline vs Cpstd

I took a step for myself and decided to go to a day treatment program; midway through I saw that my psych thought it was appropriate to put a BPD thing on my chart with out talking to me.

I have sooo much trauma, from childhood and adulthood. Some of it comes from clinical settings. I feel so betrayed- every time I’ve been given this diagnosis it’s been when I’ve been in crisis. It significantly diminishes the health care I receive and I don’t feel safe in this program anymore. I don’t think there is anything wrong with BPD but I also think it’s just trauma and a dx they give young women to further stigmatize them.

Fuck I’m so mad and I am so angry I thought I could get help and someone would understand

To clarify I entered the treatment program bc I had a really difficult year where I cut out my abusers. After doing so an outpouring of emotion happened; my body started to malfunction but was also safe enough to acknowledge the memory gaps and memories I pushed to the back of my mind. I didn’t return to any self harm behaviors. I kept getting triggered when I was at work and in public until it became unmanageable. I’d understand more if the focus was on self harm/ suicidal ideation.

Mn: Disability accommodations

Hello I am seeking some advice on how to best advocate for myself in the accommodations process.

I work in an office environment- I’m currently having some pretty bad symptoms from PTSD. I worked with my psych to get me into a treatment program and I’ll thankfully be able to get some time off with the new PFL in Mn.

In the meantime, my psych has given me some pretty heavy accommodations to help get me through the 3 weeks until I can start my program. We also discussed upon my return these being in place. I think most will be a non issue like headphones, extra break etc… However, one of them is to work from home/hybrid. I already know I’m going to get push back on it. I need this accommodation because when I get triggered or dissociate I can get myself back on track but people seeing me or walking by my cubicle while my body is freaking out/freezing. It starts the cycle over again and is obviously not super conducive to my work environment.

A few key notes:

  1. We have another employee that works from home exclusively- we already have existing software to wfh that we need to set up when hired. Additionally, this person seems to be in a role similar to mine in a different department. However, I’ve heard some rumors about another person being denied wfh and know that a person in leadership really doesn’t like it.

  2. I live within walking distance and I’m open to a more hybrid option where I work from home in the mornings (typically when it’s worst due to nightmares) and come in the afternoon to send out mailings if needed and attend staff meetings.

I wouldn’t push for this if this wasn’t something that I don’t think would benefit me long term.

My obvious preference is a hybrid wfh but what I think would/could be reasonable if no hybrid:

Being able to adjust my work schedule to flex my hours to come in when less people are working

A space in the office where there is limited foot traffic- this would likely be a private office? It’s really the openness of the cubicle that’s causing me to get re-triggered

My overall questions:

What is an undue burden? Is there a limit to cost and what do they need to say or explain for why they can’t accommodate? For example, if they’ve provided this equipment in the past during COVID or for this other employee and now it’s a burden.

Overall, I want to be flexible and recognize it’s a process, they’ve been pretty good about getting me the time off I’ve needed so far. I also don’t want to be so flexible/ run the risk of not getting the accommodations that are reasonable by being too passive.

Any tips would be great!

How would I get my child support records?

Hi all-

Wondering how you would go about obtaining records. I am trying to obtain my own child support, paternity and visitation records from when I was a minor. I’m currently 30 and want to obtain them before they are no longer retained. I can’t get these records from my parents- they won’t give them to me so I’m left to my own devices.

I’m a paralegal in PI and I know how I would go about getting the types of records I need but I have no frame of reference for getting these types of records.

So far, I’ve called the clerk of courts no one is finding anything, I’m curious if it’s because they are sealed? Currently, I’m waiting to hear back from the child support agency. The records would be in the state of Wi if that helps.

I understand that this may not be allowed in the sub but we preform miracles every day- hoping someone with more experience could give me a heads up if there are any avenues I’m not thinking of.
