Tusk 2 track install first tire change and tool kit questions

New adv rider.

Man the internet ain't kidding saying these 2 tracks are hard to install.

25 transalp removing stock karoos and fitting 2 tracks. And working out what tools I need in the future.

Granted my first ever manual tire install and I only used trail tools. Figuring out my kit.

I got it done with just an axel wrench, 12mm wrench, valve tool, motion pro bead breakers and motion pro 11 inch irons. Was rough. But doable. Had to put on my knee braces to get enough power to keep tire in drop center and finally got it done.

People say they wouldn't want to do it on the trail but I think tube repair is doable only need to take tire halfway off to fix tube.

Lessons learned:

silicon spray doesn't stay slick very long but penetrates to help break bead. The tire paste doesn't penetrate but is slick and helps install. Not sure what tire lube im going to take on the trail yet. Don't really want to carry liquid or aerosol in luggage but might be best.

Going to add some motion pro bead buddies. I tried an Amazon knock off and it didn't fit rear rim or front spokes. Do the motion pro ones actually fit on spokes front and rear?

Breaking bead on rear is tough. The motion pro bead breakers are awesome on front but on rear it runs out of travel before tire gets off the bead. Needs alot of penetratimg aerosol lube to work.

What is in yalls tire kits?

DIY rally seat attempt

Stock seat with almost 4" of extra foam.

Im trying to add seat to peg height. Im 6'4" and there are not many lowered pegs options.

Im gonna ride it for a bit and see. But I think adding so much foam I should have used a stiffer base layer.

as soon as i think i find a jacket i like and i hit the size button, for 4x or 5x. (52" chest) BOOM large sizes only in black, or out of stock everywhere. I dont want a summer jacket in black!

its not rocket science.

also ZERO tall sizes except tourmaster- also only black in tall

most manufacturer (Revit) 4xl only in black

alpine stars doesnt make a jacket big enough for 52" chest

sleeves never long enough. ever.

also nothing is ever in stock, not even on manufacturers site. HOW?

Cyclegear/Revilla i swear is like a closeout site they have very few sizes.

now try to find boots in 14 or 15 wide NOPE.

Gloves- size chart says they will fit, NOPE cant get hand past cuff.

i cant find someone to take my money and im trying, damn

Im about ready to buy a super shirt and say F it. but i doubt the sleeves will fit

Changed my springs today for my weight.

  1. And I went with K Tech springs

When adding oil i could not decide what to do.

I cannot find the 2025 service manual online.

Can order print but it's print on demand so like a week. And I already had the forks open.

I understand 2025 had some suspension changes so I want the new manual.

2023 manual says 87mm oil level

Hyperpro says like 110mm

Ktech suggests 60mm

So I went with 60.

Anyone got any different info?

I figure if too gnarly I can remove some oil down to 87mm.
