Akra high mount?? Not listed on their site and cant find it anywhere...

Ive been saving a little here and there for the HP Corse full exhaust system, but I just saw this video on youtube posted by Moore Mafia (they build/tune/race all kinds of bikes)

I would absolutely buy this system instead, but cant find it anywhere..

Anyone have any info on it?

ECU Flash (best options)

Obviously it seems like the 2wheeldynoworks option is what most people go with, but I was wondering if anyone has tried alternatives, especially tuning modules that let you change ECU settings based on preset or community profiles.

I only have this and the suspension to finish my build, so I'd like to hear from anyone who has tried alternatives as well as the send away ECU flash.

Loving my Transalp, a jack of all trades, but master of none.

Had my 92' Transalp for a little more than a year now. Put close to 27.000km on it, bought it with only 31k. (many more to come) It's just an amazing bike.

One weekend you make it shiny and put on your matching suit to ride in the Distinguished Gentlemansride. The next weekend you are hauling tools, food and clothes for a job on the other side of the country. And in between you can take it offroad and try not to fall.

I feel like this bike isn't the best in anything really. There are way better off-road machines out there, even from its era. So many bikes are better suited for touring and the long drives with luggage. And there are for sure, far better looking machines to ride for a classic style event.

But although it's not the best in anything, it can do it all, without complaining, or it can easily be modified so it performs better in certain areas.

Some mods I've done so far and my opinion:

  • Hyperpro springs+oil in the front - definitely a must have it makes braking so much better, more feel, less nose dive and better for off-road.
  • Sw-motech pegs - the old ones get really slippery with water, no problem with these ones, far better suited for riding standing up as well.
  • Crashbars - Very handy, those earned themselves back easily.
  • Full Givi case set - I don't use them all that much, but with a total of close to 100L of space they do come in handy sometimes.
  • Side pannier rack - Looks ugly, but it has a double duty as protection.

For tires i highly recommend the Heidenhau k60 Scout. Great tire for riding a mix, but also won't destroy itself riding sporty on asphalt.

Tusk Crash Bars & Acerbis Skid Plate

I just installed tusk crash bars and acerbis skid plate on my 2025 Transalp. it was a pretty good deal for a little more that $250 from Rocky Mountain ATV MC. Now im ready to go do light off road trails. For anyone looking to do the same thing the only gotchas I had were failing to use thread lock (I went back and reinstalled the screws with it) and I had to reposition the horn for the skid plate to fit.

Overall I think it looks good and hopefully it will provide some protection from my light off road riding.

Always check your bike after a ride

Rode the twisty roads yesterday for an hour and washed her today. Found the stow away and accompanying damage during wash. An old piece of underbody from a car and some jb weld. Good as new.

Potential Damage?

Well, 3 weeks into having this guy a semi trailer backed into the railing next to my bike. My question is what do you all think some potential damages would be in this situation. Luckily it appears the entirety of the contact that hit the bike was all on my crash bars I installed like a week ago. You can't tell from the photos very well but the front tire was lifted roughly 8 inches off the ground from the force. So the kickstand and rear tire were the only contact points. I feel like this amount of force shouldn't cause any issues except maybe on the kickstand, any thoughts?

‘89 600V

I’ve been casually looking for this bike for some time as my dad used to have one and I have fond memories of riding with him when I was young.

I finally found not too far away with 34k miles for $3500. I haven’t been able to find much on pricing. KBB does not go back this far for TransAlps.

Just wondering if anyone can tell me if this is a fair asking price? There was not much more listed, other than the mileage, runs good, and clean title. Thanks!

Mitas Enduro Trail +

Is it normal that these tires are more wobbly, vibrating and spongy on the road than the stock tires? It’s my first time riding on knobbier tires and I just want to make sure everything was installed correctly. I had to trust a bit of a shady shop for the replacement. They did the balancing and everything, and torqued the nuts to spec, but I just want to double-check with you guys.

Thanks!

How often do you guys replace your wind screen well nuts?

Mine seem to be falling apart within weeks and haven’t been able to keep my puig windscreen on. I’ve been essentially riding on a naked Transalp for month.Any tips?

Does anyone know how wide the handlebars are on the 2024 Transalp? I'm not around mine right now to measure it, but I'm looking at bringing it inside my new house because I don't have a shed to lock it up yet. I wanted to bring it in so it doesn't get stolen when I'm gone. Thanks.

Sprocket recommandations

Hey everyone, I’m looking for some advice on sprocket setup for my Honda Transalp XL600V, mainly for lighter TET riding and mixed on/off-road use. Right now I’m thinking of keeping the stock-style 15-tooth front sprocket, but I’m planning to get a Superpinion sprocket from KK Bikes. For the rear, instead of staying with the stock 47T, I’m considering going to a 49T rear sprocket to get a bit more low-end control off-road. The bike will mostly see lighter TET terrain — gravel roads, sand, muddy sections, forest tracks, etc. No hardcore enduro or boulder-field stuff. What I’m wondering is: Has anyone here run a 15/49 setup on an XL600V? Does it noticeably improve low-speed/off-road riding? How much does it affect road manners and cruising comfort? Does it make highway riding annoying, or is it still fine for longer road sections? Any other gearing setups you’d recommend for this kind of mixed use? Would love to hear from people who actually ride their Transalp off-road or do TET-style trips with them. Thanks!

p.s. tire recommandations are always welcome :D

PPAT South Section 1

First longish day on the 2 Tracks. The riding was great, pretty dry and 60ish % off road. I went counter clockwise from the eastern end of the loop putting the most technical parts right at the beginning. Nothin bad at all, just some rocky hills. I had jury duty cancelled so was able to take the day on Friday and was the only one out apparently. Total -240 mi, 8ish hours in the seat after playing around at Patchaug for a while in the morning. Excellent shakedown for the Bush Chicken in the fall.

On the tires, I got them figuring if they were that bad for my purposes I could throw them on when planning long dirt days. The jury is still out on the front as is developed a fairly odd whine after 400 miles or so. Not nearly as loud as the stock Karoo but it’s there. The rear is great especially considering the price. As another poster pointed out getting the rear off the rim on the side of the trail is going to be unlikely so slime for tubes is definitely in the bag. I needed an extra set of hands to mount it even with a rabaconda. Either way, it’s got great street manners and the set completely transformed the bike off-road.

Getting the TA dirty this last weekend

Went out and explored some of the area south of Lake Cushman, WA. Did about 30 miles of gravel road and the bike handled beautifully. Now I just want to get a better mapping system to ensure I do not get lost out there.
