Talk me into (or out of) the new 2026 Honda Transalp

I have an opportunity to choose between a brand new 2026 Honda Transalp in either the classic Honda red white and blue OR the new stealth grey color. Same price but different dealerships ($12k out the door.) Both local to me. My hangup is with the tube tires…am I making it a bigger deal than I need to? Will I be off-roading it? Probably not…will I want to make it look like I do? Most likely. I’ll use it as my daily commuter during the spring, summer and fall. I’ll easily be putting on 5,000 miles per year going to work and back (so not counting the occasional road trip or weekend adventure.). My current ride is a 2023 Honda SCL500 and I love riding that thing. I’m just looking for something smoother and easier to ride at 60mph and above. Plus I want something that I can ride 2up with my wife.
So anyway…talk me into (or out of!) buying a new Transalp!

I’m buying a Tiger 900 this week!

I’ll be picking up a 2024 Triumph Tiger 900 Rally Aragon Edition on Thursday and I’m excited! It only has 1400 miles and is equipped with all the goodies like both side panniers, an additional Apple CarPlay monitor, more aggressive tires, as well as additional offroad lights. It’s a really good looking machine. This will be my first ADV. All you Tiger owners, tell me about your experiences and what I should expect as a new owner.

Honda SCL500 driving lights location and placement *UPDATE*

A fellow Redditor suggested I mount auxiliary lights to my radiator using the existing bolt holes that mount it to the bike. GENIUS! I did have to get longer bolts but fortunately I had exactly what I needed in a bucket of spare bolts. It probably took me longer to find lights that would mount in this position than it did to do the whole install. Everything works great and I have them pointing far out to the sides of the road to help me see any critters that might be making their way onto the road in front of me. Plus I can see everything in front of me significantly better than before. I hope this helps some fellow Honda scramblers out there!

Auxiliary/driving lights for my SCL500

I NEED to add some additional driving lights to my SCL. I don’t like driving at night due to the lack of stock illumination from the headlight. So I would like to add a pair of auxiliary lights to it. I think the best place for me to mount a pair is on the front forks. I don’t have engine guards/crash bars installed, so I can’t mount them low like fog lights. Has anyone installed additional lighting on their SCL? If so, what mounts or clamps did you use? What lights pods have a great reputation for quality and illumination? I live out in the country so the brighter the better for seeing deer and other critters that might cross into the road in front of me. Send me your ideas and product links too!

Here’s my SCL500!

Having a blast with this thing. So much fun and it’s my first bike, so I feel I made the right choice. Definitely hooked and I can’t keep myself off FB marketplace because I think the only thing better than one motorcycle is two motorcycles! Has anyone added a saddlebag to the right side of their SCL500? I put on a Coffman’s shorty exhaust and it freed up space for me to add another saddlebag. Let me know what you’ve done for additional storage on your SCL because I’ve been using it as my daily driver this summer.
