Heart rate increase - Medikinet XL

Hi all

As described in the title, I have seen my heart rate increase just after taking medikinet XL. This has only happened since moving up to 50mg.

Shortly after taking it, my resting heart rate is sat at around 100bpm but does drop back down in under an hour.

I didn’t have this on lower doses and don’t know if it could even be due to the heat?

Has anyone else experienced this?

Prescriber suddenly OOO until December?!

Hi all
I’m with P-UK and logged onto the portal today to realise that there’s a message saying my prescriber is OOO until December 2026…..!?!
What on earth happens now?
Feel a bit confused with it all and not sure if anyone else has had this?

Getting more tired with each dose increase

I’m currently titrating on medikinet xl.
I started on 5mg, then 10mg and have today started 20mg.

I am finding the higher I dose up, the more exhausted I feel.
I do slightly feel a bit ‘sharper’ in getting things done, but can’t shake the overall feeling of exhaustion (legit feels like my eyes are so heavy and I want to sleep)
I had a great night sleep last night, woke up feeling fresh and within 30 mins to an hour of having my meds, I felt like I’d not slept.

I have also found that it’s made me feel a bit more down - I’ve felt a bit more emotional & sad about life since starting it. May be a coincidence but feels like a big shift.

Not sure if anyone else has felt this way. Is it just adjustment? Is it the wrong med for me?

What is this medikinet XL crash?!

Hi all

I have started on titration just over a week ago now.
I started on 5mg (due to historic heart issues) - didn’t feel a difference, and I have now started on 10mg.
I am still not noticing an impact yet have what I can only describe as a huge crash in the afternoon where I become agitated and cranky.
Has anyone else experienced this? Does it get “better” on higher doses?

Free money towards your mortgage!

Hey, I've been using Sprive to save £££s on my mortgage just by doing my everyday shopping.

You essentially get cashback on things like weekly food shops etc and can then use that for overpayments to your mortgage - saving huge interest and years off your mortgage.
I’ve been using it for 2 weeks and have already done a £50 overpayment on my mortgage!

They were recently on Dragons Den, and did really well. Sign up with my code WAZAIJWN, get Sprive Plus for free, and be in with a chance to win your next mortgage payment.

‘Free’ mortgage overpayments - Sprive

Hi everyone,

I don’t see many people actually talking about Sprive?!?

For anyone who has a mortgage, you use it to get cashback on things like food shops, online purchases, trips to B&Q, rogue trips to B&M, restaurants etc.

You earn the cashback (which is pretty substantial, usually 10%+ on most supermarkets) and it goes into a pot which then overpays directly off your mortgage.

Not exactly money in pocket right now** **but amazing way of knocking off some money later down the line without spending any more. Such a great little hack which I love using now and seeing the interest it knocks off!!

If you sign up with my code WAZAIJWN, you’ll get Sprive Plus for free, and be in with a chance to win your next mortgage.

Demand barking - help?!

Our nearly 12 month year old Irish doodle (Irish setter x poodle) has recently, in the last month, started demand barking a lot again.
He did it when younger but it calmed down, but recently he has started doing it more - along with hitting us with his paws etc.

I gauge it’s usually when he wants to go out on a walk, or wants our attention.

We usually ignore him as to not reinforce the barking(he will usually just continue), or put him in his crate although he has a thing where he makes himself a dead weight and he’s impossible to move)

Is this normal?!
Do they grow out of this or have we done something wrong…?

Medikinet XL - Experiences?

I am FINALLY starting my titration this week and have been prescribed Medikinet XL.

It would be great to hear people’s experiences (just to note I do know everyone is different)
Nevertheless, would be great to hear any common side effects / impacts / things to bear in mind!

I finally received my “top of waitlist” email yesterday and filled in the pre titration forms right away.
Does anyone know what the wait times are like with Psychiatry UK once you receive the top of waiting list email?

today is my 1 year diagnosis anniversary. I received my diagnosis on 1st May 2025 and have been on the titration wait list since, I thought I’d have received something by now to suggest I’m starting titration but haven’t heard a thing.
Is there anyone else who is hitting that year mark with PUK?
