So this is my first year going to woodstove as it’s already may can i get away with getting green firewood and allowing it to season from may - december ? roughly 7 months i’d be saving $1000 for kiln dried vs green which i might get a cord of kiln dried to get through october-november .

Getting a woodstove this year for primary heating have no experience , looking to get 4-5 cords to get through an upstate ny winter . what should i be looking for (type) or need to know . Only thing i’ve gathered so far is that i probably need 5 cords to be safe and get it by June to season but when i look at people selling me it’s already kiln or seasoned wood?

I’m switching from boiler to a woodstove primary heating this year as oil costs are absurd , my house is 1000sq feet one floor in upstate ny , want something that won’t break the bank a lot of the cheaper options for my size don’t have 8 hour burn times and i don’t want to get something too large and have to worry about creosote buildup . no clue what i’m doing so any recommendations would be greatly appreciated , everything ive gathered so far is i would not want to exceed 50,000 btu which limits my burn time , my house is on a slab built in 1948 but surprisingly not terribly insulated and i plan on insulating the attic better before winter
