Kiddo tested with high cholesterol and low Vitamin D

Kiddo will be 9 at the end of this month. He is nonverbal and very sensory seeking.
He eats SO. MUCH. Like he must never feel full so much.
Just like many other ASD kiddos, he has specific foods he likes, and would rather starve to death than eat other foods.
Because he eats so much we have had to stop keeping food in our home(not all food, just things he likes) because as soon as he knows it’s there he will eat the entire whatever it is… frozen or cooked does not matter to him.
We have tried locks on the fridge and freezer(something I was not proud of doing) and he just figured out the mechanisms and got in to them anyway…
So now here we are… he’s overweight, he’s gone from a very energetic child to one that would rather lay down on the ground at the park… and when we did bloodwork the other day, the tests showed the reality of these changes.
I had already been trying to prevent the continued habits, so I don’t know what else to do. He’s 9. He’s just a baby… I don’t know what I can do to help him be healthier if he won’t eat other things.

First ever cruise for my 10 year anniversary.

We are doing a short cruise 10/20-24 going to Grand Turk. It's my first cruise EVER, and I have almost no idea what to expect.
As of right now we are booked for the most basic of basics of everything. Trying to decide what add ons might be worth it for such a short time.
Neither of us drink alcohol, so I am hesitant to add either Plus or Premier plans...
The ship will be the Star.

Does anyone have any tips or recommendations?

Used Vertuo

The first thing I did when I got it was descale it, which took forever to figure out, but it worked.

Then I ran the rinse cycle with no pod.
Then I ran the rinse cycle again with a cleaning pod.

For the life of me, I cannot get it to brew. The light is solid white, I load it up, I press the button… machine makes big start up noise, and then just stops and the light blinks red a few times.

Worst case is that this is a loss… but I’d really like it to not be. Can anyone offer advice?
Google literally just tells me it needs to descale or be cleaned… which I’ve done.

Starting my journey…

I’m 37 this year, weighing in at 312lbs, and I just met with my PCP a couple weeks ago, and he referred me to a Bariatric surgeon.
I have my first appts with surgeon and dietician next month.
This isn’t my highest weight, but it’s close, and for whatever reason, it feels harder.
I’ve been trying lose weight my entire life, and I’ve done fad diets and workout plans. I’ve met with personal trainers. I’ve joined online fitness groups.
I don’t drink soda at all(and my biggest pet peeve is people telling me to quit drinking soda and how quickly I’ll lose weight).
I’m the largest person in my family, both height and weight, and I’ve heard about it every single day for over 30 years.
At first I didn’t even want to tell anyone in my family that I was starting on this road. They can be really in your face and heavily judgmental…. But I have a level 3 autistic 9 year old, and a 1 year old, so I had to admit to myself that I would need the support. I decided to tell my mother, and unfortunately she reacted exactly the way I was afraid she would and immediately tried to tell me all the reasons it was a ridiculous idea and only confirmed my decision to not tell anyone else.
I made the mistake of commenting in a Twilight group(shout out to my fellow ratties) that I was starting this journey, and I forgot my sister was in that group, and she messaged me in the middle of the night about it, which made me feel horrible.

As far as assistance with childcare, my MIL is an amazing woman, and I know I’ll be able to rely on her… but emotional support, I don’t really have that much of a system. (I do have my husband who is wonderful and supportive, but both my parents are living, and I have 4 siblings that I feel like i cannot lean on)

…
..
.
This is a long rant basically just trying to say that I don’t feel like I have a solid community, and I am here on Reddit to try and build one, maybe?
I’m thinking bypass is the better choice for me over sleeve, because of my history with EOE and heartburn. I also have PCOS.
I’m looking for literally any support/advice.
Should I start following a diet now to ease in to it? I know the dietician will have things to say about this, but what worked for you?
Are there apps that have been super helpful for some people? I ALSO have ADHD, so staying on track can be rough business.
Recommended cookbooks and/or tracking journals?
Apple Watch friends?
I have a sweet tooth… favorite protein powders or other sweet substitutes that might meet that criteria without ruining my day?
Things I should add to my Amazon wishlist for pre op and post??

I don’t even know where to begin. I did read the pinned post, and I will definitely be sure to bring up those listed questions in my appts… but I’m looking more for what helped individuals maybe with some of my same diagnoses.

Older child potty training help?

My kiddo will be 9 in October. He wears underwear at school, and has zero accidents consistently. When he comes home though, he immediately switches to a pull up and poos.

We know he can use the toilet, to pee for sure, and we ask him several times throughout the day if he needs to go, and SOMETIMES he will pee… but for whatever reason, underwear and toilet is a school thing and not a home thing.

I would very much like the toilet to be a home thing for all toileting needs.

Has anyone successfully potty trained their older child? Any advice you can offer?

On top of this, we have a 10 month old, so not only am I drowning in diapers, but I know I’ll have to potty train her soon as well… and I’m so overwhelmed.
