What to expect as a PE sub?

Diagnosed with HSV 3 years ago. For this year didn’t have any outbreaks but then after that, I’ve been having outbreaks twice a month during ovulation and period.

Just went on 1000mg daily suppressants. Plz let me know if anyone has any success with antivirals.

Started 1000mg for the first time

Hsv2 diagnosed 3 years ago, never went on antiviral, but have was fine the first year then slowly started getting mini outbreaks during ovulation and period.

Wasn’t dating / in relationship so didn’t care to need to go on antivirals but I got so sick of having these outbreaks every month now.

So- just took my first 1000mg dose and will continue the daily for the next 90 days.

What should I expect?

Hsv2 positive. Mild outbreaks but want to give AV a try. Initial first ob was 3 years ago and since then would have ob on and off but not bad ones tbh, just around ovulation / period.

Haven’t been sexually active so didn’t care to jump on av right away, wanted to see how my body would do without it. Now I want to just get started on it to see if the outbreaks calm down around my cycle, still not sexually active but want to get started just to help my body not need to go through it every month.

Doc wants me to start on 1000 valacyclovir.

Is this too much? I know some do 2 x 500g a morning and night.

Also any side effects?
