Lease extensions, risk of CGT?
The building I live in comprises 8 flats, share of freehold
The 8 freeholders, as a group, are extending the leases this year. No premium is being attached to the cost
Our solicitor has advised us to get tax advice because the increased value of the leases may make us liable to CGT, depending on how our Residents Association limited company was created (back in 2003)
The RA manages the building, and we pay a monthly service charge. Every penny spent is from the RA business account
Some flats are rented, most are owner occupied
Everything we've researched suggests that CGT would be highly unlikely
We haven't looked for tax advice yet, I thought I'd run it past the Reddit experts first for some peace of mind
Thanks
Predator is in my top 10 films of all time. But I just noticed that the ceiling fan in this scene is dangerously low
Ark Royal is still the most OP ship in the game
It's impossible to dodge the dive bombers, which take off 2k - 3k health and set fires every time
It makes DD play impossible
What happened to it being nerfed?
It was considerate of them to not block the cycle lane
Spotted in Kingston upon Thames last week
Fortunately, there was no damage to the lamppost
Question about how people carry guns
Sorry, I didn't know where else to ask this
(I'm British)
On TV and films, you sometimes see someone carry a pistol jammed into their belt or their jeans, next to their back
Do some people really do that? Is it safe?
And will those guns always have the safety on?
I always think what if they forget about the gun, and sit or lie down, can the gun go off?
I guess the same questions apply if someone has a gun in a coat pocket - do people keep a gun like that with the safety on or off? I keep thinking what stops an accidental discharge
Are the mods active in this subreddit?
Here's the thing - I messaged them about adding flairs, but have had no reply

(I appreciate they probably have lives outside of moderating)

Perfect weather forecast for England v Ghana on Tuesday, nice and cool
Boston is currently seeing highs in the mid-20s°C with mostly sunny skies and low humidity. However, conditions are set to change significantly, with heavy rain moving in tonight and continuing into Tuesday before drier, hotter weather returns for the middle of the week

It's coming home 🏆
Can we get flairs in this sub?

In the prequel, Kate realises that Sam is a Thing. He keeps denying it, but she knows. I wonder what it would say if she asked it what it wanted?
Could it even verbalise it?
Or would it just keep pretending it was human for as long as possible
Watched The Thing last night, for the first time for a long while, and the overwhelming feeling I had at the end was that...
MacReady and Childs are both human, and they accept they will die soon anyway
Once they sensed that the other was human, the realisation of their impending death hit them. And they accepted it
I know John Carpenter has said the ending was deliberately ambiguous
But.. could he have just made that up after the film was released and people were throwing out theories? So he went for ambiguity because it's more fun/interesting and keeps people talking about the movie
I just watched the excellent film Thirteen Lives
When extracting the boys, some of the passages were only 40cm wide
This got me thinking - was the extraction route the exact same path that the boys took to get in?
I had a hard time imagining 13 kids squeezing through a 40cm gap (even when not flooded) while out on a jolly
Perhaps the 40cm section was very short eg a few feet, I'm not sure?
