What is happening to my amp??

Hello everyone,

I just played guitar and I noticed a change in the sound. I thought my guitar is out of tune so I checked the tuner pedal. But there was nonresponse from the tuner.

I thought it's something with the pedals, but when I plugged in directly to the amp, I heared a very thin, strange sound and also REVERB??? (This amp does not have reverb!)

What is it? Can anybody tell?

Thank you!

Splitter/Mixer not working correctly

Hi everyone,

I don't know much about pedal building or electronics. I needed a pedal, had some parts lying around, and wanted to build one myself. I built the splitter/mixer you can see in the picture.

I want to use the splitter/mixer as a clean blend and put an overdrive pedal in its FX loop.

However, I'm having some issues with it and don't know how to fix them. I'm hoping some experienced pedal builders and electronics nerds here can help.

I recorded a short video to demonstrate the problem.

In short, there’s a constant, loud whistling noise. The sound quality is very poor—I suspect this might be due to an unstable connection, as the signal often cuts out completely. Yet, simply touching some of the cables—without even moving them—restores the connection, and the whistling noise returns. The whistling stops as soon as I touch the tip of a plug.

I’ve already tried a new potentiometer and re-soldered the wires several times. I made sure to heat the lugs properly to avoid cold solder joints. But no matter how often or how I re-solder the pot, that loose connection persists.

On top of that, turning the pot has absolutely no effect. When turned to the left, the overdrive should be completely removed from the signal, leaving only the clean signal audible; turning it to the right should logically do the reverse. Yet, turning the pot does absolutely nothing...

Is there any advice you can offer? Do you have any ideas on how I should proceed?

Many thanks. 🙏

My cat loves this show almost more than I do! 😹 As soon as the intro starts, she sits glued to the TV and doesn't take her eyes off it. Not even cat documentaries captivate her like this.

My cat seems to have good taste. :)
