Found at a flea market... Did I hit the ultimate jackpot or is this a total disaster? 😅

Hey everyone!

I'm pretty new to watches and spotted this "Patek Philippe" sitting in a box at a local flea market.

Deep down I'm 99.9% sure the grandfathers of horology didn't leave a real multi-thousand dollar piece hanging out here for pocket change, but I’d love to learn from this!

For the experts here: what are the absolute dead giveaways that scream "fake" on this one? (Trying to train my eye for the future).

Appreciate the lessons and the laughs!

EDIT: Thanks everyone for the super helpful (and non-judgmental!) responses! As a newcomer to the watch world, I knew deep down it was certainly a fake, but I really wanted to understand why and learn what to look out for. Appreciate you all taking the time to break it down for me.

P.S. I also posted another find : a vintage Seiko that actually looks pretty legit this time! Would love to get your thoughts on it here VintageWatches

Quick Legit & Price Check on this Seiko 7A38-7260 at a flea market?

Hey everyone!

I'm currently at a local flea market and came across this vintage Seiko 7A38-7260.

Quick questions before I decide to buy:

Legit Check: Does it look 100% authentic to you?

Condition & Price: The seller is asking €100. The movement/hands are actually running, but as you can see, the leather strap is completely destroyed and will need an immediate replacement.

Value: How much would you realistically be willing to pay for it in this state?

Thanks a lot for your help!

Just found this in my hotel room… Is this common in Rome?

Hey everyone! Just found this in my hotel room tonight.

I was really surprised as I didn't expect to see scorpions around here.

Is it common to run into these in Rome?

Has anyone seen them here before?

Thank you!

POD Poster Shop (4-5 months in) – Question about current performance

Hi everyone,

I’m running a Print-on-Demand (POD) shop selling posters, and I’ve been open for about 4.5 to 5 months now. I hit a total of 17 sales so far, and I wanted to get some feedback from fellow sellers (especially in the poster/POD niche) regarding overall performance, ads and current traffic.

Here is a quick breakdown of what I’ve experienced:

My Ads Phase (2 months): I ran Etsy Ads for about 2 months on around 10 products. I started at $1/day, went up to $2/day, and later scaled down to $1/day on just 3 products, then finally just 1 product.

The Results: Out of my ~15 sales, only 1 or 2 were directly attributed to paid ads. However, I noticed a clear boost in overall daily visibility and stats while the ads were active.

Current Situation: I stopped Etsy Ads about 2 weeks ago to focus strictly on organic social media (TikTok & Instagram).

Right now, I'm averaging about 10 organic views and 3 to 4 visits per day (with a slight bump on weekends).

Now that ads are off, traffic feels pretty quiet.

For those of you in the poster or POD niche, how are things going on your end right now? What do you think about my overall performance after 4-5 months in? Do you feel that running low-budget Etsy Ads is necessary just to keep the algorithm happy and maintain overall visibility, even if direct ad sales are low?

Would love to hear your thoughts or experiences! Thanks!

Good (air-conditioned) spots to work on a laptop for a few hours? 💻☀️

Hi everyone!

I'm in Granada for a few days and need a good spot to get some work done on my laptop.

I'm looking for a café, library, or coworking space where I can sit and focus for a few hours without the pressure to constantly buy drinks.

Given the heat right now, somewhere with good A/C would be amazing!

Any recommendations? Thanks in advance!

Finally made Etsy Ads work for me: 3 sales this week!

Hey everyone,

Just wanted to share a quick update because I'm really happy with how this week turned out.

I was originally running Etsy Ads on 8 to 10 products with a $2 daily budget, but it wasn't giving me any results. After a month of nothing, I cut it down to 3 products, but still got zero sales.

Finally, I decided to change my approach. I turned off ads for everything except for one single product that had already sold organically. I set the budget to $1 a day on just that item.

And it actually worked! I got 3 sales in 4 days on that product. For context, my average product price is around $50 CAD, so seeing these results on a $1/day budget feels great.

Just wanted to share the facts and what worked for me. If you are struggling with a small budget, focusing on just one proven item might be worth a try.

Found a peaceful spot at the back of the deck to catch up on some reading.

There's something so grounding about watching the water.

Hope everyone is having a good day.
