Mac OS Sequoia 15.6

I used Spyder (in the windows environment) while I was working so after I retired and bought a Mac I installed it. However, I've been fighting with the environment that Spyder creates especially once I add packages so I got rid of it and I've installed Pycharm.

One of the things I like about the Spyder interface is it has a console window which allows one to interactively enter code to see how it works; you can also have multiple file tabs that you can activate and deactivate if you want to copy code from one script to another. I'm trying to discover that sort of functionality in Pycharm.

If I google 'can I run python commands interactively in Pycharm' it directs me to open the tools menu and run Python Console. When I try that there is no such option. There is however a Create Command Line Launcher and I get this:

And when I click on linked text it sends me to the download page for JetBrains Tool box but I've already downloaded it. For the life of me I cannot see in the settings how to have a console window open in PyCharm.

Bottom line: can I open an interactive command line console in PyCharm and if so how? Can I open multiple tabs of existing python scripts and if so how?

I installed the exifread library using pip as well as conda. In Anaconda Navigator it shows as installed. Using a terminal window I type in:

pip3 show exifread

and it returns

/opt/anaconda3/lib/python3.13/site-packages

I use Spyder (I know, I know: use pycharm or vscode...) I cannot import the module. I get the dreaded

ModuleNotFoundError: No module named ‘exifread’

I recently installed pillow and I can import it just fine with import PIL. Using pip3 show pillow it is the same directory as exifread

What am I missing here?

I’ve read a number of posts regarding proof times and I’m still a little confused. Let me explain my typical method and invite comments. For this example I’ll use a 48 hour cold proof. Full transparency; I’m a life long member of the ‘Federated Over Thinkers Association’…

Mix dough and knead; put it directly into the fridge for 48 hours. Remove from fridge 4 hours prior to launch and form balls placing the balls in covered containers. In the calculator I’ve entered 4 hours RT proof.

Some posts suggest a bulk RT proof of an hour or more after refrigeration, ball and let the balls double in size. Others suggest a RT proof prior to refrigeration. Some suggest balling prior to refrigeration. I can’t remember how I came to my procedure, but my guess is somebody in the Reddit Pizza-sphere suggested it.

Regardless of approach, is the time the dough rests as balls prior to launch factored into room temperature proofing? Operators are standing by…

2024 Lariat

Last night while driving home I from an evening fly fishing session I noticed the dash compass (the one picked through the ‘off-road’ menu) was giving me anything but the correct direction. I should taken a picture but while facing into the sun at sundown, it showed North East. As I approached an interchange where the freeway splits from a westbound direction (I-80) to southbound (I-215 in the Salt Lake Valley, Utah USA) it displayed North.

This happened at least once before, ironically at sundown and displaying the same incorrect direction. Curiously, the generalized directions (ie N, NE,NW etc) shown on the navigation pane were correct. Has anyone one else experienced this?

As the title implies, I just got a Mini 2. I’m testing it and must be missing something or have botched something along the way.

I had my wife install the Messenger app on her phone. With the messenger on my phone and paired to the device I can text her. But only through the messenger app.

Thinking that was a bit clunky for her, I had her delete the app. However, her number still shows up as having the messenger app. In other words I have no way to contact her via Garmin Messenger.

We both turned off and restarted respective phones (both iPhones 17 Pro Max) but when I use the Messenger app to text her, it still shows her as a Messenger user and the message goes to a black hole somewhere.

Any help is appreciated.

Anyone who lives in East Millcreek or Holladay surely has experienced this traffic nightmare that seems to be endless. I can see it’s some sort of pipeline that’s being installed, guessing it’s natural gas. Does anyone know for sure and if it there is an estimated completion date?

PS: Don’t get me started on the Porsche dealership debacle…
