Would you save or back out ? 02 sequoia
Recently bought an 02 sequoia. Went to go get thru inspection. It had some issues i was expecting (power steering fluid leak. Needa brakes. Kind stuff) but i did not notice the frame rott in the rear frame on the left and right side, and in the internal real bumper. Gutted. I know rust can be an issue on toyotas. I dont have a ton into it. (Its alot for me but I know everyone's got different financial situations)
I took it too a local shop that does this kinda work. Guy was super nice. Says its def fixable. Also kinda gave me the impression that he thought whoever did the inspection went a bit hard. He gave me an estimate which wasnt terrible but I believe at just the rust fix im now over the value of the vehicle from my research.
I currently have it for sale myself. Altho im not going to not point out the issues it has with the frame as I believe karma is a bitch. But anytime I mention the rust either they lose interest or low ball salvage price.
Its got 220k on it. Seems to run great otherwise. Everything else is pretty clean. Im not really mechanically inclined to do repair work on it not do I have the tools or space. So any other the other work that needs to be done id have to pay for.
What would you do ? Cut your loses or try to make it work.
Also next year I can tag the truck historic so I dont have to get a safety inspection.. but id still want to get the non cosmetic spots fixed.
