I’m adding a hall of meat style bone break system to our VR skate game since EA won’t…

A lot of people were upset that EA just completely abandoned this and it’s the most requested feature we get so I’m adding it to our next big update.

This update also adds freestyle tricks and full body avatars, oh and a report/block button in case little kids get spicy over voice chat 😂.

Hopefully coming this month but yeah, if you haven’t heard of Virtual Skate it’s a multiplayer VR skate game where your hands control your feet. I started making skate games cause the ea skate games lacked certain things that I wanted, as awesome as they are. That’s why I cofounded Easy Day and made Skater XL, but sadly still did not have ultimate say over what did and didn’t get added. I sold my shares and left that studio in Dec 2020 so I could start a new studio and have full control over my vision. Hence the stats menu, off board walking, and now freestyle tricks coming to Virtual Skate.

No microtransactions atm or corporate snakes sucking the life out of this, it’s just a life long skater trying to give back to skating and skate games that helped define my life.

It’s currently still 45% off ($10.99) for like 8 to 10 more hours if you have a Quest 2/3 (it’s also on SteamVR).

Just a life long skateboarder trying to make my dream skate game. Quick preview of the massive update coming to Virtual Skate, it's really starting to feel like a legit contender in the skate game world, oh and it's on sale for $10.99 for a few more days!

I'm just a life long skateboarder trying to make my dream skate game (again lol). I also made Skater XL, but there's only so much control you can get from joysticks, so I made Virtual Skate, a multiplayer skateboarding game where your hands control your feet.

This next update, coming hopefully in July, will add freestyle tricks like caspers, primos, darkslides, as well as an xray bone break system (similar to hall of meat from skate 3), a new map and a ton more.

If you haven't picked up the game yet, it's currently the cheapest it's ever been at $10.99 for a few more days! Not a bad time to jump in considering the updates just around the corner. We've got multiplayer with voice chat, gear and map mod support, obstacle courses and more.

Patch 0.0.2.5.3.0

  • New Climbing Feature: Use the left and right triggers to climb any surface. Grab a wall or ramp and grab your board then lift it to enable all sorts of new tricks like handplants and inverts (note these are still experimental, but they are fun and dynamic tricks that emerged organically from the climbing system so we'll take it haha).
  • New Spring Clothing: Added a bucket hat, opened button up vacation shirt, and baggy pants!
  • New Net Code: Replaced all the networking code to support seamless host migration so you no longer get kicked when the host leaves. It also results in less lag.
  • New Voice Chat: Swapped from Dissonance to Vivox voice chat which offers better voice chat quality with less latency.
  • 6 Player Sessions: Increased the max player count in a session from 4 to 6 players. Note that Quest 2 might struggle with 5 or 6 players on heavy user created maps when in replay mode.
  • Riding Height Slider Added: This will slightly adjust your height when riding the board, can help make the player looks less crouched (or help your feet touch the board if very tall).
  • Kicker Tag Added: The new kicker tag will prevent vert code from sending you back into the ramp, allowing you to keep your momentum when popping even on steep surfaces (for mod map makers).
  • Replay Playback Movement Added: Players can now move and rotate during replay playback so that you aren't stuck in the ground or with the replay hidden in a wall.
  • Fixed Modio Bugs: Upgraded the modio plugin which came with a fix for the "Waiting" screen bug. We also fixed the search bar and filters.
  • Fixed Board Pop and Flip Physics: The pop height and physics during flips has been fixed and is now more consistent and flips respond better to controller height. The board no longer gets stuck on coping when flipping in a ramp.
  • Fixed Impact Sound: Landing sound is no longer delayed when landing out of grinds
  • Fixed Coping Grind Bug: Coping grinds had a bug that would make the board move around if there was a ramp or slope below, that's been fixed making them a bit more consistent to control, still a work in progress.
  • Fixed Private Session Button: Private session button is always private now, new sessions you create will remain private until you hit Public.
  • Fixed Grind To Manual Bug: Falling out of a grind directly to a manual works now, even if it's just a few inches.
  • Fixed Impact Bug: Fixed the bug that would stop you in place when falling out of a grind and landing.
  • Fixed Map Names: Map names now get truncated in Session List.
