Standing 8 hrs a day in retail. Does it ever get easier?

Working a supermarket checkout and standing for 8 hours straight is honestly killing me.

After my first shift I got home and just collapsed into bed. The bottoms of my feet felt like I was walking on needles, and my calves were so tight.

Really hoping to find some small things that make this more manageable. Any tips from ppl who've been doing this longer than me?

Recovery after my FIRST 100-miler wasn't nearly as bad as I expected

A few weeks ago I finished my first 100-mile ultramarathon.

Going into it, I expected to be wrecked for a month. The first couple of days were rough, obviously. Stairs were a negotiation and sitting down required some planning. But after that, things improved pretty quickly. I was back in the gym lifting within a few days, and yesterday I completed a half marathon without any issues.

The biggest difference this training cycle was that I actually treated recovery like part of training instead of an afterthought. I was much more consistent with sleep, hydration, easy movement, and generally trying not to rush back into feeling normal.

Now I'm curious. For those who've done multiple 100s, anything you swear by after a big race?

What finally made a robot vac worth it for you guys?

I’d been thinking about getting a robot vacuum for a while, but our old place had stairs everywhere so it never really felt worth it. Recently moved into a one floor house and finally picked up the Dreame L60 Pro Ultra.

Now I mostly just start cleaning from the app while I’m out and come back to floors without cat hair everywhere. It’s been handling both rugs and hard floors pretty well so far, and it’s low enough to get under the bed and couch without issues. Even with cat toys around, it surprisingly hasn’t gotten stuck much.

Tbh I finally understand why people get so attached to robot vacs. Floor cleaning barely crosses my mind now.

What made your robot vac finally become part of your routine?

I’d wanted a robot vacuum for a while but our old place had stairs everywhere so it never really made sense. Just moved into a one-floor house recently and finally picked up the new Dreame L60 Pro Ultra.

Now I mostly just use the app to start cleaning while I’m out and come back to floors without dust and cat hair everywhere. Works pretty well on both my hard floors and rugs so far, and it’s slim enough to get under the bed and couch. Even with cat toys around the sofa, it hasn’t really gotten stuck so far.

Tbh I finally get why people like robot vacuums so much now. I barely think about floor cleaning anymore.
