Bricklink Designer Program Series 11 | Celebration

I’m trying something new and decided to make a video explaining two of my sets for the BDP 11! I’ve loved getting to know some of you here, and I thought it would be cool to share this so you can put a face to the name.

Train Museum (New Lighting Renders)

So I’ve been doing a lot of research on how to improve my renders for the next round (Series 12). One thing I’ve been trying to understand is how others are creating light sources within their structures for the competition. I think it really helps sell the set, even though it’s slightly misleading from an advertising standpoint. What are your thoughts on using artificial or “fake” lighting? Is that something we should be incorporating, or should we avoid it?

I’ve included new images of my Train Museum from the series 11 here so you can see what I’ve been working on. Personally, I think the lighting really helps the build stand out, especially when showcasing the back side.

Power Miner Train Driller

This is my compact power miner drilling train, designed to clear debris when trains or mining carts need the track opened up! I created this thumbnail as part of the current BrickLink Designer Program series. This MOC is featured in two of my entries that are up for voting right now, so I wanted to share it with you all here as well.

The drill actually rotates as you push it down the track, adding a fun, functional play feature.

I’d love to hear what you think!

The Bricklink Celebration Express - Two version shown here for the BDP Series 11

Ok, one last reveal here on reddit before the Series 11 on Monday! Introducing the Celebration Express and the Grand Celebration Express, two versions of the same train, just in different sizes (1800 and 3000)

I do have a couple more reveals if anyone’s interested, but I'll just post those over on my IG. I really wanted to create a train set inspired by rail journeys while celebrating themes from Lego’s history. The themes I chose were Bionicle, Adventures, Power Miners, Agents, and Exo-Force. There are others represented too like (Pirates, Castle, and Space), but they don't have extra builds.

I hope you like it! I’d greatly appreciate any feedback you have about the build or the concept! Also I would happily answer any questions you may have or share more of the little easter eggs I put into the set.

Here is the description I wrote.

Inspired by the tradition of commemorative rail journeys seen around the world, the Bricklink Celebration is a tribute to both railway heritage and the creative spirit of Lego and its rich history.

In this blend of real-world inspiration and fictional storytelling, Bricklink marks a milestone anniversary, celebrating over 25 years, by launching a cross-country steam excursion. This special train brings together a vibrant collection of classic Lego themes and beloved characters from across its history, all united in one unforgettable journey.

Along the route, each stop presents both joys and challenges. Exo-Force’s Jezek and Hitomi stand guard, defending the rails against relentless Bohrok attacks. The Power Miner Driller Train clears debris from the tracks, making way for the locomotive as it races to catch the infamous Kinlkcirb, the child of Ogel. Passengers can also catch glimpses of Johnny Thunder trailing the Bricklink Celebration, eager to offer archeological excursions on his personal handcar at each stop. The journey highlights the roots of building, creativity, and community, capturing the magic of Lego fans from every corner of the world.

Visually, while not based on a single locomotive, the train draws inspiration from streamlined passenger locomotives of the 1940s, showcasing elegance and timeless style brought to life for this special steam journey. The color palette tells Bricklink’s story, from where it is today to where it all began, starting with the bold yellow engine and ending with a caboose dressed in its classic original colors of blue and green.

Characters Featured:
Power Miner • Exo-Force’s Jezek & Hitomi • Johnny Thunder • Kinlkcirb (child of Ogel) • Agent • Pirate • Engineer • Bionicle’s Jaller & Kohrak • Knight • Classic Space

Features:

Designed with a strong focus on both aesthetics and functionality

Motorization-ready: supports an L motor in the steam locomotive or a train motor in the tender (motors not included); diesel locomotive also supports a train motor

Built as a detailed 6-stud-wide train for a balance of realism and playability

Fully compatible with standard LEGO track geometry

Power Miner Driller Train is equipped with a gear-driven drill that rotates as the train travels along the track

Exo-Force mech is designed to attach to rolling stock

Python Peak - BrickLink Series 11 Entry

I wanted you all to be the first to see my submission for the BrickLink Designer Program before it goes public on Monday!

Here’s my entry Python Peak, I had an blast designing and building this model, and I set out with two main goals:

  1. Create a true display piece that works both opened up and as a complete 360° model that look good from every angle.
  2. Keep the piece count relatively low while still packing in detail and character, something I think I accomplished (1,914 pieces)

I really hope you enjoy it, and I’d genuinely appreciate any feedback, it helps soooo much. For the overall style, I wanted to lean into something slightly whimsical while also giving a nod to the classic Lego Yellow Castle that started it all for so many castle fans.

In my head canon, Python Peak serves as a secondary estate for the Snake Knights, a seasonal residence where the royal family retreats during the spring and summer months, while also hosting important meetings with allied factions and visiting dignitaries.

The Soaring Sydney

Ok, here's another one of my set reveals for the BrickLink Series 11 competition! It was approved and will be available to vote on next week. I decided to make a train inspired by the Australian 3801… but legally distinct of course haha I'd love to hear your thoughts about the model!

Thank you to everyone who shared suggestions to improve on my BrickLink Railroad Series 10 submission. I really appreciated your feedback and took it into account while refining the set’s design. I’ve since reworked the concept and landed on this new Train Museum model. It hasn’t been approved for the Series 11 competition yet, but I’m hopeful and expect to hear the results soon. I’d love to hear your thoughts on this updated design! I’ve also really enjoyed getting to know many of you in the Lego train community, thanks again for all your support.
