Big boy stretching its legs!

Currently, this has been the final design, I haven’t run this model enough but I’m for sure going to do some small design changes, thinking of releasing a “2.0” model that is more reliable with a couple of cosmetic changes. Right now it is reliable but there is room for improvement, as compared to my 4-8-4 chassis which runs like clockwork (by far my best looking and most reliable models) I would like the big boy design to be the best it can. Let me know what you think!

4563 - Load N’ Haul

I recently acquired this set, my first 9v set. It’s a fairly basic set, but a good starting point into 9v.

My US 250 and SVRy 50th Model: Stumper Valley Railway Caboose #3

Built sometime in the 1910s, Stumper Valley Railway Caboose #3 was a narrow-gauge caboose that ran in Eastern OR for about 30 years till it was sold to the White Pass to be used by the US Army during WW2 where at the war's end the Caboose was sold to be used as a Bunk House in AK. It sat for 40-ish years before heading back to OR, where the Stumper Valley Railroad restored it and runs it today.

This started as a passion project which slowly developed into a US 250 model. A copy of this very Caboose is on display at the Sumpter Valley Railroad, and if you go find instructions for it online, all proceeds will be donated to the continued preservation of the railroad.

Happy US 250 and SVRy 50th!!!

Happy 250th, America! Here is the full color photos of the completed Lego X12 Atomic Powered Locomotive.

In honor of America's 250th and her accomplishments in STEM, here is the full color unveiling of the X12 Atomic Powered Locomotive MOC. Project started last November so it's been a long time getting built for today. Happy 4th of July!

Not sure exactly what sparked the idea, but for World of Lights at Brickworld Chicago this year, I filled my 40-car ore train with glowsticks. The rainbow train was well received!

In honor of USA 250, My Lego Military Train MOCS

Don't be alarmed thinking I forgot the rest of the Circus Train. I realized as I was preparing the Circus Train Grand Finale, that July 4 would come before I was ready to post. Thus I switched gears to do this, but will soon complete posting the Circus series. Now, on with America 250!

The first photo is a flatcar with a Tank & an earth-mover. I have noticed throughout my railfanning years that a military train is rarely without some form of this equipment.

The second photo shows a second flatcar, this one with a Howitzer & another Tank.

The third photo shows flatcar #3, with a troop trailer, Humvee, & second Howitzer. Before going any further, yes I know there's work to do color matching the wheels & other things. This is an ongoing project.

Next is Flatcar #4 with a Red Cross Medical Truck, & a Halftrack.

Then comes another Flatcar, this time carrying a Jeep & a Semi Cab. The latter will become clearer with the next photo.

With Flatcar #5, we have the rest of the Semi Truck. I've seen many of these tankers on Military trains, usually for hauling fuel.

Now we get to the really cool stuff, starting with my first Minuteman Missile Car. This one requires manual operation. You swing back the roof, open the side door for access, then press the back of the launcher to raise the missile. You pull back the hammer & let her rip! This one's powered by rubber bands (can use Lego brand ones, but that got too expensive) & will launch the missile a good 30 to 40 feet!

Next is my second Minuteman Missile car, this one being fully automatic! It uses Power Functions to open, raise, & launch all by remote control!

Then we have a flatcar carrying a truck trailer with a nuclear missile onboard. I have several of these in HO Scale, so I made one for my Lego trains as well. This design I cannot verify the authenticity of, but it looks really cool regardless. I even built in the capability to raise the missile vertically.

After that we have my budget version of the captured German Anzio Annie Railroad gun. I plan on making a better one someday. Still a cool piece of history.

Next is what I call my missile command car. A more fanciful creation to be sure, but very interesting nonetheless. It contains a mobile launch facility, with radar screens, safety controls, launch buttons, & 2 missiles each on their own launch pad. Included is a top-down view showing the details.

Next is another of my historical pieces, a German Flakwagen or antiaircraft car. These were used to protect WWII trains from air attack, though their success rate is somewhat questionable. I believe we captured a few of these as well.

After that, we return to good old American ingenuity, with a locomotive designed to run on any gauge track our military needed it to. Also included is a photo I took of the real thing.

Then we have a somewhat more fanciful, & Lionel inspired American Antiaircraft car. This takes elements from several things & combines them into a really neat MOC. There's a radar for detecting incoming attacks, & a Flack Gun for defense.

Continuing, we have a car inspired by Buster Keaton in 'The General'. It carries a cannon reminiscent of the Civil War, complete with ramrod, powder, & cannonballs.

Finally we have another Lionel inspired MOC, a third operating missile launch car. This runs by a #2847c01   remote, & launches a barrage of 3 missiles sequentially.

I hope you all enjoy this tribute to our Armed Forces as we celebrate the United States of America on her 250th birthday. As always, feel free to comment, ask questions, & even recreate for yourself, but please do not monetize my designs.

BigBoy MOC Set Suggestions

Hi everyone,

With all the Big Boy hype and finally having seen it in person, I think it would be really neat to add a Lego model of it to my collection, but with all the companies that steal creators work or are just bad quality, I’m confused where is reputable.

Anyone have suggestions?

Not trains per-say, but for the layout.

I created these flagpoles using custom printed flags from Studbee. The plan is to have the ones from the second photo in my park, and the other one with the Police Station. Thought July 4th was the perfect time to unveil them.

Resurrected the old sets from Childhood. (And scratch built a station.)

After being boxed up for the better part of 15 years, I finally brought out the old Lego sets from when I was a kid out of my parents' attic.

I've tempoary set up a little display with items I have, and scratch built a station and a building from bins of legos my kids got from a coworker.

Unsure where else to take this mini layout but any tips or suggestions are welcome! Happy 4th of July weekend to those who celebrate!

Weird Wide Radius Tracks From China

I found these images from a Chinese seller, which depicts all their wide radius track. From the looks of it, it is an actual photo, but if that's true, it means the tracks are really inprecise, considering they should have equal distance between. Some other mistakes include the fact that R120 is inside R104, a full circle of R152 having 57 segments, and the R104 seems to be missing a tie in each segment.

Network SouthEast MkII Coaches

Behold, my set of three British Rail Mark II coaches in Network SouthEast livery.

Network SouthEast was a passenger sector of British Rail created in 1982 that covered much of south east England. It only ran for 11 years or so but for me the liveries are iconic.

Much of the rolling stock hauled by NSE trains were MK2a coaches. Disclaimer I don't know much about details like these but here's what I've gathered: trains were often composed of Tourist Open Second (TSO), Corridor First (FK) and Corridor Break First (BFK) coaches, which are the three models I've decided to model here.

My models aren't built to be hyper realistic but to be Lego versions of real life trains, so I try and build in a style similar to Lego sets. The coaches are slightly longer than a 'standard' lego coach (see comparison with Emerald Night coach). They don't have interiors and are built in the least expensive way whenever possible.
The doors at the end of the coaches open in the same way as the Emerald Night or Horizon Express coaches do.
The real things don't have yellow covers over the axles but black half bushes cost an arm and a leg and I think it looks quite cool like this.

I hope you like them!!!
Shoot me a DM if you want the studio file
Leave an upvote and I might finish the class 50 ;)

Emily the Stirling Single MOC

I've honestly been struggling with Emily's design for like a year and a half now, but last night it finally clicked for me and I built her on up. The first pic is an edit I made of a render to give her her lining, her face, correctly colored wheels, and editing the smaller driver wheels into dummy ones (cause there isn't a model for them in stud.io, but the place I got the models from DOES sell them at that size). Honestly I'm finally glad I finally figured her out, it's like some kinda weight off my shoulders.

Brick model railroader still selling ?

I ordered from BMR May 31st and have heard nothing, not a single update even on the shop app. I sent a email to the contact listed and still nothing. The order was for bearing wheels if that matters?

I won’t give my business to Brick Train Depot after bad experiences by both myself and friends so kind of disappointed to see BMR silent right now and I’m not away of any other alternatives for bearing wheels? Does anyone have any information?
