A tropical climate during the Wet Season

Hey everyone, I’m from Australia, more specifically Melbourne. In January i’ll be going up to Cairns for about 3 weeks to see family. Normally we would only ever go up during the dry season however next year will be different. Was wondering for anyone else who lives in a tropical environment, how do you go coping with the very humidity?

A story from a Richmond supporter

First off, congrats on how you’ve been playing this season, very satisfying to see you guys doing well.

I posted something similar in the Carlton Subreddit but I really wanted to express my appreciation of your role in the Good Friday game. Whilst i’m doing much better now thanks to the new medications that have arrived in Australia. I have a rare genetic condition called cystic fibrosis.

For years i’ve been in and out of the Royal Children’s Hospital. Back in 2022, around the time of the Good Friday appeal. Both the Carlton and North players made several visits, to meet patients, staff and to conduct an odd interview.

Earlier that week, both North Melbourne and Carlton players came into to meet me (won’t name names to respect their privacy) But the blues player was a midfielder with many accolades, the North player is a very powerful key forward.

Both of these players were able to chat to my parents (both tigers supporters aswell) and me, about something that we could all relate to, the footy. Keep in mind I had a richmond hoodie on when they came in😂 This also happened the morning of the superclash.

During the game you both play to see who the better team is on the day, but it’s really good to see that both teams are able to put the game aside for such an important occasion.

Hope you guys make the wildcards, thanks for reading!

A small story from a Richmond fan

Despite our rivalry that we’ve shared for generations, I really wanted to share a story of the unique relationships I have with some of your players.

I have a genetic, hereditary lung disease called Cystic Fibrosis. For years i’ve been in and out of the Royal Children’s Hospital. As is the case every year, Carlton and North Melbourne face off on Good Friday, to raise funds for the Good Friday Appeal. Whilst i’ve been in good health as of recent. I particularly remember the 2022 good friday superclash.

In the days leading up to it, as both teams would do every year. The teams would always visit the hospital to see both the patients and staff, aswell as to conduct the odd interview.

As to respect the players privacy, I won’t name a name but if this helps he has many accolades under his name!

When I first met him at the hospital (I was wearing a richmond hoodie) He entered my room, introduced himself, and we talked for almost 2 hours, just about the footy😂 The team was able to come in the morning of the superclash, in which we had another chat, and yep, about the footy.

I know the club and all the players as a whole would take great pride in being included in a game with such an important cause. But I wanted to share this story to outline how I appreciate that the players treat the Superclash as more than just a game.
