The Harrower: An insecure young man gives up his humanity, turning him into a monster and goes after those he believes wronged him. It’s like if Joker meets Nosferatu.

Rising From The Graves: In a world overrun by the undead, a ragtag gang of misfits must navigate the treacherous landscape of the zombie apocalypse, battling the relentless hordes and their inner demons. As they strive to survive, the group unravels the mysteries shrouding this nightmarish new reality, discovering that the key to humanity's future may lie buried in the secrets rising from the graves. It’s like if Attack on Titan meets Shaun of The Dead.

Developing Terror - When a skeptical filmmaker and his religious partner venture into an abandoned asylum to shoot a documentary, the terrifying entities they capture on camera force them to question not just their footage, but their own sanity. It’s like if The Lighthouse meets The Blair Witch Project.

The Last Harvest - Chained inside a high-tech laboratory, the world’s last vampire must endure relentless biological extraction by a ruthless cosmetics corporation until a group of radical activists attempts a high-stakes rescue. It’s like if Daybreakers meets Snowpiercer.

It would be called “We Can Be Villains” which follows the children of that world’s notorious villains. They’re given a deadly test that could either make or kill them. The ending has the survivors emerge from the trial, bloodied and hardened. They haven't learned "teamwork"; they’ve learned utilitarianism. They don't love each other, but they respect each other's lethality. They are introduced to their "handler," a shadowy figure.

Post Credit Scene:

The camera pans across a cold, metallic table. A folder slides open.

1. Photo 1: Missy Moreno, looking more authoritative.
2. Photo 2: Guppy, using her hydro-kinesis to save a ship (she looks powerful and god-like).
3. Photo 3: Wild Card, mid-teleport.

Handler: The Heroics think they saved the world. They think they’re untouchable. But even gods can bleed if you cut them right.

One of the MC’s: When do we start?

Handler: The Heroics are having a parade tomorrow in the plaza. No survivors. Make them bleed in front of the cameras so the world knows that gods can die.

The MC picks up Missy's photo and stabs a knife through it.

TEXT CRAWL: THE HEROICS WILL RETURN

So awhile ago, I posted here asking whether my story is readable. I got some helpful comments saying instead of it being edgy power fantasy about a young man going after those he believes wronged him, it could be about a conflict between an order of monsters hunters against the monsters called Harrowers throughout history. It’s like if Assassin’s Creed meets Bloodborne. I’ll remove the unnecessary parts such as the MC helping his childhood friend become the kingpin of crime.

Here’s the premise for the first story: When a string of brutal murders shakes the city, a sharp college student and a hardened detective hunt down a serial killer, only to uncover a centuries-old conspiracy of elite humans who have shed their humanity to become immortal monsters—and an ancient secret order standing in their way.

I plan to make this a series where it takes place in different eras with figures such as Vlad III Dracula, Elizabeth Báthory, Jack the Ripper and Josef Mengele.

I have this story that I’ve been working on for the past 3 years. It was shelved in and pulled out a few times due to me being unsure whether it would be good or stupid as I write it due to the controversial topics I would talk about.

So my story is called The Harrower/Harrower (the title is a WIP) and it’s about an insecure young man rejecting his humanity and selling his soul to the Devil to become a Harrower, a monster hybrid between a demon and a vampire to take revenge on those he believes wronged him.

The story starts with the main character (MC) Kieran Kane, a young Irish Indian in college either in America or in my home country (that’s up to debate). He recently left a toxic online friend group and wants to start a fresh in college. He goes to the gym where he meets Alan who beats Kieran in a sparring boxing match. After the sparring, Alan talks about being a part of the Christian Fellowship (CF) and asks Kieran if he would like to join them and he can leave anytime if he feels uncomfortable. Kieran attends one of their sessions and meets the other members, 7 or 8 of them. After some time, he feels comfortable around them and feels like they could be his new friends but as time passes, he’s slowly being left out of hangouts and he feels ignored whenever he makes suggestions. It’s all comes to ahead at a meeting where the members are planning an event and Kieran isn’t a part of it. He eventually confronts them about and tells them how he feels and promptly leaves the CF feeling like he got rejected and betrayed again.

He reaches his dorm room where he vents to himself about being betrayed by those he considered friends and declares that if he can't be a part of that Heaven, he'll drag them all down to his Hell while also blaming God for his predicament. That's when a well-dressed man appears before Kieran and states he could make it possible and all he has to do is embrace him. Kieran asks the man who he is and the man says his name is Romelius Fractansun (Lucifer Morningstar) and wants to offer Kieran the opportunity to get revenge on those who wronged him. Kieran eventually accepts the deal and is turned into a Harrower. Kieran learns that infamous rulers and killers were turned into Harrowers since ancient times and that he could become one of them. Romelius leaves after telling him the rules of being a Harrower.

Kieran's first victims were jocks bullying his dorm mate Micah and kills them brutally. The next day, he wakes up thinking it was all a dream only to see that the campus is under investigation after the jocks murders. Micah tells Kieran what happened. He becomes ecstatic as he finally got the power to exact revenge and knows what to do next and plans his next target.

Kieran takes a cab ride to his destination where during the ride, the driver (who's implied to be the biblical Cain and possibly the first Harrower) talks to Kieran after learning his last name. He talks about the old stories one about a man killing his brother and was marked so that no one could kill him and that he would walk the earth till the end of time. The driver says the man didnt see it as a punishment but more like an evolution. Kieran could sense that the driver knows something is up with him and drops Kieran at his location where Kieran is about to pay the cab ride only for the driver to decline. Kieran then lures his former online friend group to an abandoned carnival where he slaughters them saying cutting them out of his life was the best thing he did and before disappearing into the night.

Sometime later, detectives O'Connell and Martinez are investigating the string of murders and think they could use the help of an expert. A memorial is held for the victims even the recent ones on the college campus which sickens Kieran and Micah to an extent where they bond on how some people who were terrible at life becomes saints in death. Kieran then targets the family of CF member Amy where he kills her brother and sister in law, however the infant daughter Lily is missing. Another memorial is held for Amy's family where it's disrupted by a possessed guest. While trying to calm and restrain the guest, Alan catches a glimpse of Kieran and senses something strange about him.

O'Connell and Martinez investigate the family homicide but couldn't find any clues. They call in Dr Vale who states that he has fought Harrowers before such as Idi Amin and Pol Pot and that the recent killing is the work of a recent Harrower. He gives a brief history of the Harrowers and tells them he works for the Order of Aster and wants to help them stop the new Harrower.

Meanwhile, Kieran recruits his childhood friend from the foster system Ray who he turns into the king of the underworld by converting many criminal gangs into mindless Thralls. Word gets out that crime has dropped and the detective think Rex is their Harrower.

Alan convinces the CF to have their event Harvest Night and plan it. Amy get a visit by Kieran who mocks her over her dead family and tells her something. Eventually, Harvest Night happens. Micah gets bullied and thinks no one is there for him. That's when Kieran, Ray and the Thralls appear before Micah and captures the bullies and Kieran hands Micah a knife in which he stabs them with it.

The police hear about Harvest Night and head to the camp to stop the event but they're too late as Kieran and his men massacre majority of the attendees, sparring Alan, Amy and the CF committee when Amy allowed him in as he said Lily is alive and if she wants to see her again, she has to do her bidding. Kieran states killing them would end their torment which he has no intention of doing as he plans to drag them down to Hell with him. A shootout occurs between Kieran's men and the police, which Kieran, Ray and Micah take the opportunity to escape.

In the aftermath, the CF committee are traumatized by the massacre. The detectives and Vale approach them and ask them if they want to join them in stopping Kieran as Vale wants them in his order to train them to give them a fighting chance. The group agrees and Amy apologies for letting Kieran in, the group somewhat forgives by telling her she could make up for it by joining in their cause to which she does.

The story ends with Kieran, Ray and Micah planning their next phase when Kieran introduces his weapon; a young witch named Lilith implying a sequel.

Is this story readable? Where could I improve? I feel like I have so many ideas for it but I don't wanna upset a certain group and also I have nothing against Christians.

Now that I think about it, the gangster genre could potentially be considered horror because the life can be terrifying for those involved as they slowly lose themselves and their souls as they go deeper and deeper.

It took a couple of months but I finally did it, I finished my novel but I dunno I feel kinda, how do I say it, empty?

Even though I ended it on a cliffhanger and a possibility of a sequel. I just feel hollow.
