Hi everyone,
Looking for suggestions on buying a car with a budget of under LKR 9 million.
My main priorities are
- Spacious interior (rear seat and luggage space matter)
- Decent ground clearance for Sri Lankan roads
- Good for hill country travel (Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Ella, etc.)
- Reliable and less time in the garage (low maintenance headaches)
Cars I’m considering
- Toyota Yaris Hatchback X (brand new, basic model)
- Toyota Aqua (2012–2024, hybrid, 1200cc+)
- Honda Fit (2012–2024)
- Any compact SUVs within budget
I’m leaning toward something practical and long-term rather than chasing features.
Questions:
- Which would you pick and why?
- Is a brand new Yaris X worth sacrificing space for peace of mind?
- Are older hybrids like Aqua/Fit too risky in terms of battery or repairs?
- Any compact SUV alternatives I should consider?
Would especially appreciate feedback from owners who use these for hill country driving and rougher roads.
Thanks in advance!
