First, they show the lowest dependence on foreign demand among the biggest states: the share of GDP generated by foreign buyers is just 9.0% for the US and 15.7% for China. On top of that, both superpowers depend least on foreign producers too: the share of their domestic spending going to foreign suppliers of goods and services is 12.4% for the US and 12.8% for China, making their internal markets the most self-sufficient compared with the rest of the world.
