Research indicates that Congress appears indifferent to the preferences of ordinary citizens.

Beyond that, they frequently fail to enact legislation that would serve the broader American population.

published in Perspectives in Politics, “

“The preferences of the average American appear to have only a miniscule, near-zero, statistically non-significant impact upon public policy."

Whether we're talking about taxation or national debt, education or economic policy, America continues to struggle with our most pressing challenges. The wealthy and well-connected secure favorable outcomes, while everyday people bear the burden.

It's the ultra-wealthy who consistently get their way. Consider Elon Musk, ( the welfare king).
He stands as the world's richest person largely because of government subsidies funded by taxpayers like us.

Our tax dollars fund the government, yet those same dollars flow to the ultra-wealthy, who in turn wield enormous influence over our elected officials. This creates a self-perpetuating cycle that seems impossible to break, since Congress primarily crafts legislation to benefit the wealthy elite.

Most people recognize how the government system disadvantages ordinary citizens, yet meaningful change is out of our reach because of how the system works.

It seems America is not ready to revolt.

However just because We might not see eye to eye on what a community should look like.

We can rally around the flag and agree that we deserve to live our lives with minimal government interference. We should be able to earn enough to support ourselves and our loved ones.

We shouldn’t be weighed down by hefty tax bills while the wealthiest among us evade taxes.
We should have a voice in our local government and expect our elected representatives to prioritize our needs over those of big money.

We need to hold those in power accountable for how they manage our funds.
We should expect our elected officials to act responsibly and ethically.

If we shifted our focus from blaming one another to holding the government accountable, we might see real change.

Then we could return to debating issues like bathroom access, which religion is superior, and the choices around meat consumption.

The average American is taxed 20-30% of their pay. That money seems to go to the wealthy. Example contracts to arms manufacturers, Elon Musk, Trump himself.

So why do we have to support the wealthy and there wars when most Americans are against the idea?

If you make 100,000 a year that’s almost 30,000$. Taken by the government to spend on anything but the people that gave it to them.

Then add in local sales tax, high gas prices, energy price increases, health insurance, prices skyrocketing on life essentials.

How much do they plan on taking from us before we have no choice but to revolt.

Taxation with our representation. No one voted to give there money to Trump, Musk, and most are against wars.

You only have to tax the 5% a year of the top billionaires to pay off deficit. Only 5% of there wealth.

They say what doesn’t kill you. Makes you stronger. I think it’s more like the more you can handle the more the world will throw at you.
I have had a lot of trauma through life who hasn’t.

The one thing that has haunted me that I can’t get over is loosing my children.

The story isn’t as important as the fact that afterwards I felt like a part of me was gone.

Fifteen years later I survived but I will ne we be the same. I got numb less of me but never over.

The mother child bond is so amazing and when it’s broken it isn’t something one recovers from.

It’s something you just survive or not.
It’s the most traumatic thing I think anyone could ever endure.

It makes my past traumas seem small.
It can’t be fixed, it doesn’t get better.

Life is just so dull unimportant. No major joy, no major sadness. It’s like walking through life without a soul.

In order for billionaires to gain wealth they have to harm others. It’s not possible to gain that kind of wealth destroying others.

The wealthiest are the most undesirable type of people. People who cannot live in a society without harming others.

They did not earn their wealth through hard word, intelligence.
There money had been passed down.

There is no billionaire that can be considered ethical. The fact that in order to gain that kind of wealth they have to harm others shows that.

Billionaires should not be n a society.
They destroy any equity, fairness.

We see them buying of our politicians.
We see that congress has bowed to them.
Nothing can get better with extreme wealth.

We need to eliminate there wealth if we ever want to see basic human rights respected.

Americans aren't stupid due to a lack of education, but rather because of our overconfidence. The idea that because we are Americans we can do whatever we want.

We've taken individualism to a whole new level. People often believe they know everything about various topics, simply because they lack the knowledge to realize they don't.

We tend to follow the loud, charismatic leaders because after working hard all day, we just want to go home and let someone else handle our issues. Even though deep down, we know that overly confident individuals aren't the brightest. Hypocrisy is our specialty.

We understand that nothing is ever truly simple, yet we cling to the comforting illusion that it can be.
Our beliefs aren't just ideas; they're part of our identity. This leaves little room for debate.

Logic is a good friend, but we find ourselves captivated by fantasy.

Scientists can seem dull; we crave entertainment.

We admire the wealthy because they seem to exist outside the bounds of reality. Their complete disregard for responsibility fascinates us, despite their ridiculous ignorance.

We know we're being deceived, yet we keep voting for personalities instead of real substance.

We don’t feel accountable for our leaders' actions. After all, we're all individuals, so if we end up destroying the world, it’s not really our fault.
