2006 Dodge Dakota transmission issue/question
backstory, bought my 2006 Dakota with 4.7 and 545rfe @ 110k. Now she’s at 155k. Last year in the summer I noticed on really warm days (80+) around 35 mph I would get a clunk when shifting into next gear and sometimes at the higher gears too. Note that I have no history of any transmission service on the truck. The clunk does NOT happen when it’s cooler out. Is it safe to drop the pan and refill with ATF 4+ and new filters? Having tow/haul mode on also eliminated the shudder/clunk. It almost feel like the truck is pre-mature shifting before its ready. What are some options I have? Thanks!
