All my life I thought it was shake it to the front and is chicas to the front …
Chicas? Seriously?!

Chicas? Seriously?!
Mara Brock Akil says she wants $50 million to make a Girlfriends movie.
I completely understand knowing your worth. As a Black woman who created one of the most iconic shows with an almost entirely Black cast, she deserves to be compensated fairly—no question. Never take a backseat !
But…
Part of me wonders if pride might be getting in the way. This isn’t some forgotten show that nobody talks about. Girlfriends premiered 26 years ago, ended 18 years ago, and people are still discovering it and binge-watching it today. Myself included because it’s def a comfort show for me lol.
The fanbase has never really gone away.
We never got a proper ending, and I think the fans deserve some kind of conclusion.
What do y’all think? Do you stand with Mara Brock Akil and believe she shouldn’t settle for less than what she believes the project is worth? Or do you think she should find a way to make it happen for the fans, even if it means accepting less than $50 million?
Watching the wedding episode with adult eyes has me looking at everybody sideways. Like I seriously can’t …
Was William a good boyfriend? Debatable. He definitely had some controlling tendencies, and the whole not telling his mom about Yvonne was weird as hell.
BUT… Yvonne, girl… WHAT???
You dated this man for a whole year, quit your career, moved in with him, and let this man—and literally everyone else—call you “Yvonne” like it was your government name. Then you waited until the wedding to be like, “Actually, it’s Ya-vonne.”
Ma’am… you had 365 business days to correct him. 😭 One simple, “It’s pronounced YA-vonne,” would’ve saved everybody the drama.
