Why are people gaslighting job seekers about the current market?
This is a rant. I’m sick of people who have no concept of what so many of us looking for jobs are dealing with. The level of competition, the constant ghosting, the constant rejections or the indecisiveness of final decisions. Or so many of you have mentioned on this forum that you’ve made it to final round interviews just to be rejected after doing up 5+ interviews. People with so much experience and multiple degrees are constantly being rejected by jobs that they’re overqualified for. There are people who aren’t looking for work right now, that are constantly gaslighting us and telling us WE are the problem, not the market. That we’re interviewing wrong, or our resumes are wrong and it’s just like we all can’t be unqualified, bro?! The excuses they give are endless, but if none of us are finding work, common sense shows us that there’s a larger problem within the market. I feel like I’m screaming into the void, dealing with these kinds of people. Has anybody else reached that point of frustration where they’re tired of having to explain the job market to people who don’t understand or refuse to understand?
