Post Menopause -- Wine or Hormones?

I have been a consistent wine drinker at night (myabe 3 glasses over 3 hours) for the last 25 years with no issues. All of a sudden about two years ago, I started getting these crazy wake ups after 7-8 hours of sleep that feel like an electric surge flowing through my head, chest and arms. Kind of like a fight or flight adrenaline dump. Never happens at any other time of day.

I'm female, 59 (so this started at age 57) and not sure if it's the fact that I can no longer process alcohol or is it hormones (even though I'm on the recommended HRT for my age -- estradiol patch .025 and progesterone at night).

I'm also on Lexapro (15 mg in morning). I started taking Guanfacine at night but so far that's not really helping.

Anyone else have similar issues?

Has anyone tried this medicine to combat early morning adrenaline surges that wake you up? I just discovered it and did some research but wondering if there’s anyone in this group that has tried and if so, results?
