Tomorrow is National Peace Officers Memorial Day
policeweek.orgNeed help picking out a stick welder for field service.
My trusty old gas-powered Lincoln Ranger has decomposed (truck-mounted in the midwest) and I'm ready for something more appropriately sized, perhaps even something two guys can carry. We only weld a couple times a week, and usually just for an hour or so. Rarely over 1/4" thick steel. 145 amps is enough for what we do. Lincoln and Miller make some nice portable machines but they're only a few bucks less than a Bobcat or Ranger. This ESAB Ruffian looks like a sweet deal but it's made in china. I wouldn't mind trying out the Hobart machine but it comes with a Briggs and Stratton motor, and I've been spoiled by Hondas and Kohlers.
I checked out my state's left lane statute, along with all the bordering states and found out:
Michigan and Ohio: does not apply on highways with three or more lanes in one direction.
Indiana, Illinois and Minnesota: Left lane can be used when "traffic conditions, congestion, weather, or other hazards make it impractical"
This is perhaps why you see so many people cruising in the left lane.
