I have a question about public transportation from YHU Airport to downtown Montreal and was wondering if someone could help me.
I just realized today that my flight arrives directly at Montréal Metropolitan Airport (YHU). I checked Google Maps for the best way to get downtown and was given directions that involve taking either bus 428 or 128, then transferring to the Yellow Line (Line 4), and finally walking the rest of the way.
My final destination would be Sherbrooke metro station, as it's the closest station to where I'll be staying (Auberge du Plateau). My flight arrives at the airport around 2:00 PM.
Is this really the best option? I'm asking because there might be a train that goes directly to Montreal's Central Station, in which case I would only need to take one more bus or metro ride afterward.

I’m planning to book the Standard fare, which includes one carry-on bag plus a personal item. My carry-on would be a 40L Forclaz backpack. Would that be allowed?
The backpack may exceed the size limit by around 2 or 3 cm in width, but I’ll be traveling with only this backpack and no other luggage, no wheels.
I saw someone here on Reddit say that they always travel with a trekking backpack on the Basic fare and have never had any issues, but I’m kinda scared to risk it, I don't think I'd be able do to that.
I’d like to know whether anyone has had the experience of having their backpack measured even when traveling on the Standard fare.

i'm asking because in my country it's quite rare for backpacks to be measured at boarding on domestic flights. it would be a flight from Toronto to Montreal.
