Med Ed Game Project

Hi all. I wanted to share a Med Ed project I have been working on. The goal is to have an engaging game where playing is fun and increases memory hooks for a knowledge base to prepare for the USMLE exams. This is just the demo and major areas for expansion will expand will involve making the high yield facts more comprehensive, illustrations to help serve as memory hooks, and expand both the number of organ systems covered as well as gameplay mechanics. I hope it helps! Mods if this isn’t allowed let me know and happy to remove this post, but I figured it is a free resource that I am happy to share and hope others can find value in. Thank you!

Free USMLE study tool

Salaam all,

I am a U.S. MD and wanted to give free beta access to the demo of a medical education tool I have been working on. The goal is to have an engaging game where playing is fun and increases memory hooks for a knowledge base to prepare for the USMLE exams. This is just the demo and major areas that I will expand will involve making the high yield facts more comprehensive, illustrations to help serve as memory hooks, and expand both the number of organ systems covered as well as gameplay mechanics. I hope it helps and please would love any feedback possible. Mods if this isn’t allowed let me know and happy to remove this post, but I figured it is a free resource that I am happy to share and hope others can find value in. Thank you!

How to become a first author in a PubMed indexed journal

Hi everyone,

I spoke to the mods about permission to post. You may have seen some of my previous posts and comments but I am a US MD in a surgical subspecialty who has experience mentoring and guiding students on research for years. When I was accepted into medical school I had no real guidance on how to do research other than knowing that I needed to do it to match. I realized early on that it can be difficult to get involved with research as a medical student, and that is when I realized the best way to publish research is to create your own first author projects. I realized there are many ways to create your own original project ideas, not just doing review papers. I graduated medical school with over 40 peer reviewed pubmed indexed papers and over 100 total research items, with award winning presentations at international conferences.

I created a free research guide that I give to the students I work with based on my experiences of everything from creating ideas to designing studies to publishing. with how challenging I know USMLE has gotten as a pathway for IMGs I wanted to share my guide with all of you as well in case it helps. You can find more information at the website and just drop your email for the guide.

The reason I am posting now is because we are planning to start a workshop series for Pakistan medical students at a much more accessible price point compared to the 1 on 1 mentorship services that are for US students. If this is something you are interested in or have any other questions, email me at drhassiumconsults.com with the subject saying PAK. Inshallah I will do my best to help!

Summer Student Research Program

Hi everyone,

One of the students I work with told me about this subreddit and said I should post here. I am a U.S. MD physician with dozens of peer reviewed and pubmed indexed research papers. I mentor students on how to do research and share my free research guide with anyone interested based on my own experiences.

This summer we are also starting a one month summer student research program for anyone interested in the medical field where we go over everything from coming up with a project idea, to designing the protect, collecting the data, analysis, writing up an abstract, mentor outreach, and more. The goal is for students to finish the program feeling confident in their ability to create their own first author research experiences.

If you have any questions about the research guide or the summer student research program feel free to message me or also can visit drhassiumconsults.com. Thanks!

Edit: we work with predominantly undergraduate premeds and medical students but have made exceptions in the past for motivated high school students.

Coming up with research project ideas

Hi all,

It’s me again, author of the ultimate medical student research guide! Working on a version 2 of the research guide to hopefully be completed by 2000 downloads, but in addition to that I’m working on a chatbot to help guide students on project idea creation custom to variables including interests, experience, resources, time available, etc. The intention of the bot is primarily to help give students a resource to start the process of coming up with an idea and an outline of how to go about executing the idea and completing the analysis. There are other secondary objectives as well centered around mentorship, writing, etc. As I finish up drafting it up, wanted to reach out to this community to see if anybody wanted to try it for free beta testing on a first come first serve basis and give me feedback? Just leave a comment or DM me, thanks!

Ultimate Medical Student Research Guide

Salaam all,

I am a U.S. MD who commented on a previous post about research in this subreddit but got too many DMs immediately so I decided to make a post. I published 40 pubmed indexed papers when I was a medical student and networked with dozens of institutions by creating my own research projects without any nepotism or research years. I did a write up of my experience and share my research guide with the medical students I work with now, and figured if this can help inshallah I am happy to share for free. I have the google form below to just put ur email in, I hope it helps! Feel free to message me with any questions
