AITAH for telling my mom that she can’t have my twin sister’s bridal shower at the venue Im looking at for my wedding?
I (23 F) am getting married sometime in April ‘27 while my twin sister is getting married November ‘26. I’ve been scheduling tours for various wedding venues that will fit in budget. Today my fiancé, MIL, and my mother toured a beautiful golf park clubhouse. The lady we talked to was kind and transparent and the prices were very reasonable for the amenities. My mom has eaten at their clubhouse before and has always loved the food.
At the end of our conversation for my wedding my mom asked for a quote for my sister’s bridal shower. We then toured two potential rooms with one of them being the bridal suite. My mom decided she liked the room across the hall from the suite. The quote came out to also be reasonable and my mom is excited to choose it.
I told her that I thought it was kind of weird and made me feel a little uncomfortable that she would be hosting a bridal shower at the venue that I would likely choose a few months before my wedding was supposed to be there. She did not see the problem however, my fiancé and future MIL also thought it was strange. I asked my sister and my dad what they thought about it and they agreed with my mom that it was not weird. My dad even said that it’s hard to find venues for a bridal shower and that we should share the venue.
I’m trying to figure out why I am so against it. I feel like it’s my wedding and I shouldn’t have to share a venue with my sister. I also think it was kind of inconsiderate of my mom to derail the conversation towards my sister’s wedding events while we were there for me. I feel like that sounds really bratty and petty on my end though.
So if I went with the venue, would I be the AH for telling my mom to please not have my sister’s bridal shower at the venue?
