Beginner Guide Recs?

Hello friends

I am super interested in ice climbing and would love to try it out this winter!!

Would anyone know of/have any recommendations for a company to go through to get into the ice for the first time? I live in MD (USA), but am happy to travel to NH/ME/wherever in the US to try this out.

Preferably budget friendly but truly open to any suggestions.

Thank you very much!

Billy Goat / King&Queen Seat

Hello! Recently got super into scrambling.

Last week I did old rag whilst raining

I’m looking to do Billy Goat Trail this Saturday, then drive up and do King Queen Seat Sunday.

Would anyone know if they’re terribly dangerous while wet? Weather app says it’ll be raining. I didn’t find old rag to be too bad, but I’m quite a few hours from Billy and KingQueen and would be disappointed to make the drive only to feel unsafe.

Thanks for the help!

Acadia Visit General Questions

Hello!

I’ll be visiting Acadia and the surrounding area from late Sunday night (9/20) to early Saturday morning (9/26)

This is my first solo trip and I’d like to ensure I make the most of it.

I’ll have M-F fully available and want to explore everything.

I’m especially interested in non conventional attractions. I’d like to find the Great Cave, and Goblin/Schishostega Cave sounds awesome.

Are there any specific places that are a must see?
Are the beehive and precipice trail truly difficult?
How likely am I to see anemone cave if I plan with online tide calculator?
Any food recommendations (birthday is on 22nd)?
General attire suggestions?
How’s the service?

I’m staying just outside of salsbury cove, so if anything in the opposite direction has something worth visiting, let me know!

Terribly excited and also unsure I’ll be fully prepared. What do y’all bring with on the trails themself? I was going to purchase a 22L bag, would that suffice—and what do you even bring?

Running Shoe Advice?

Hello!

I’ve been getting more into running recently and really increasing activity—going from <10k to 25k+ steps a day—and I’m looking to invest in a pair of shoes that’ll do me well.

Currently, I have the Hokas Gaviota 6, size 13 2E
I’ve had them for about 3 months now and do all my walking and running in them.

I’m looking for a pair of running shoes—and will be purchasing separate walking shoes for everyday outings—that will fit a couple different needs.

I walk/run on the road, on dirt/gravel trails, in the woods, and at both decent inclines/declines and flat road.

My right foot has plantar fasciitis, so I am looking for some arch support. I also have lots and lots of blisters on my feet, and think that a wide/large toe box would be helpful.

Suggestions and recommendations are welcome; I will look into anything as I really want to have a more comfortable experience.

Thanks in advance!

Light bulb got stuck in my fixture

Hey, so my heat bulb was not turning on properly. Not realIzing the switch was still flipped ON, I tried to take the bulb out of the dome; there was a loud pop and flash of light and now the base of the lightbulb is stuck in the dome.

After removing the stuck bit, I’m worried that the fixture may not be suitable for a new bulb.

Do y’all think the current fixture will inhibit the functionality of a new heat bulb? Or should I be okay to continue using it?

Thank you everyone who answers!

Is this effective?

So I’ve been doing the elliptical on mostly max incline and max resistance for about an hour a day. (Some days half an hour elliptical + walking/running outside for 30-60 mins).

I also do at least 20 squats daily, and have been looking into hip abductions too. I’m hoping to target glutes, would this be sufficient?

Also, I’m using an iFit elliptical, is the calorie counter accurate it feels a bit generous?

Thanks!

Does my beardie look normal/healthy?

He got moved into this tank earlier this month and seems to be enjoying it. His eating & pooping habits have been regular, he burrows and explores around, and he seems happy. Being my first and only beardie, I want to ensure his health and happiness; does he look happy, healthy, and normal? Anything he looks like he explicitly needs that I’m lacking?

He’s ~15 months old or so

Edit:
Arcadia t5 14% uvb
100w flood light
150w basking bulb
Cool side ~80f
Warm side ~90f
Basking ~100f

UVB/Heating Questions

Hello

I’m wondering if an Arcadia 14% 24” uvb, an Arcadia 100w halogen basking bulb, and a par34 80w halogen floodlight would be adequate heat and uvb for a ~1.25y/o beardie in a 28x48x28” tank
