Visiting next week, need some ideas! Having planning paralysis

Me and my husband will be visiting saturday to thursday from CT. I have been to acadia before and hit up the major areas but I really want to explore more. I’m planning for us to spend time on the quiet side to avoid MDW crowds and then go to busier areas during the week. What some places we should explore? Shops, restaurants, natural areas…gimme the insider details!! Im a big hiker…my husband is a bit more lowkey so I appreciate any easy-moderate hike recommendations.

Also are there any boat tours yall recommend? I looked at whale watching but it seemed like a lot for little reward. Are the puffins out this time of year?

Thanks!!!

Acadia national park accomodation

Hi all! I am visiting Bar Harbour, Maine with my family and was looking for accomodation near Acadia National Park but couldn’t find anything on Airbnb or Booking.com for our dates. Would appreciate any leads!

Also, I did find one place called Rose Eden Cottages (super close to the Acadia National Park) but they ask for credit card details over the phone which I found a little sketchy. Let me know in case anyone has booked with them and can verify they’re legit. Thanks in advance!

Acadia Views

Climb the gigantic rocks on the right side of sand beach. It looks so awesome from that angle and the ocean breeze is so nice

Pass for vehicle AND biking in?

We're going to be on the island for a few days this summer -- we intend to both drive into/around the park, and also to do eBike rentals one day.

So...do we need to have a private vehicle pass for driving in AND two per-person passes for when we bike in?

I will be going to Acadia with my parents coming up & really wanted to climb beehive, but my parents cannot.
I heard going UP the DOWN was easier??
Is it possible for them to go up the back way & me go the regular way & meet in the middle/at the top??

Visiting this weekend. America the beautiful pass question

Hello everyone!
My husband and I are visiting this weekend and are thinking about purchasing the parks pass especially since we will be visiting a few other NPs this year

My question to you all current/recent visitors, anyone lucky enough to not get an America the beautiful pass with Mango Mussolini?

Ive heard of some NPs keeping previous years passes and I am gonna ask and give it a shot.

I don’t mind paying the entrance fee for each park this year if they don’t have any other options.

Thanks in advance.

Gorham mountain and the bowl

I’m planning on doing this hike but wanted to make sure the bowl section is dog friendly. I know beehive is right in that area and wanted to make sure that there wouldn’t be a problem.

Took the dogs down the path from bubbles to Jordan pond and feel like I should do more research before I just go wing it again 😂 (while it was a bit of a struggle both dogs made it down the bubbles trail)

Puffin Boat Tour with Toddlers

Hello! My family is going to Acadia in the middle of June and we would like to be a boat tour. We have a 2 year old and 4 year old. Has anyone gone on a tour that worked well for their young kids? Puffins would be a plus 😄

From the pacific northwest - is Acadia trip worth it?

I’m looking for opinions from those that know both PNW and Acadia. We have a one week trip to Martha’s vineyard at end of July with friends and my husband has always wanted to see Maine -coastal towns, lighthouses and lobster. We decided to tack on 7-9 days for a Maine trip the beginning of August. We’re kinda “slow travelers” and like to be in spots for a few days at a time, and would like to build in some serene places with big nature so are thinking about ending up at Acadia and flying out of Bangor. Would it make sense to go to a town like Camden to stop for two nights and then five nights on the quiet side of MDI? The thing is we really don‘t like dealing with crowds, congested driving, parking hassles as it isnt relaxing - plus we have a 4 year old. In washington state, there’s gorgeous big nature close by so am wondering if it’s worth extra drive to get up to Acadia, or if it’s just as beautiful to stay in a few small towns on Maine coast to relax? We likely won’t get back to Maine since it’s so far away so would like any insights.

Last year we went to Tofino and Ucluelet in Canada and it was so glorious and rejuvenating - and well worth the drive to get there. Would Acadia be similar, or more like Yosemite in the main parks with throngs of people?

Acadia Trip Itinerary Recommendatiosn

Hi, I’m planning on going to Acadia May 31st for 4-5 days. I was looking to see if anyone had any hike/camping recommendations. I recently did a 28 mile loop over 3 days Shenandoah and enjoyed the difficulty of the hikes/length of trip. If anyone has any ideas or recommendations that would be great. Thanks

im really worried about ticks but i want to bring my dog out into the nature scene.

how worried and how precautious should i be? i usually always stay on the path and try to keep my dog away from tall grass already as it is because i really hate ticks and i get upset when i find them on my dog. ive never been to maine, im from jersey. ticks are prevalent here but it also depends how maintained the spot is.

any advice is appreciated, thank you

also if you have any other recs as to where to go please lmk! i like to take photos so anything picturesque is ideal. i also want to get some night time photos too :3

Spent a lot of time on the Schoodic Peninsula side of Acadia — here's what most visitors miss

Most people visiting Acadia never make it to Schoodic. They stay on Mount Desert Island, deal with the Bar Harbor crowds, and leave without knowing the quieter, wilder side of the park even exists. Having spent a lot of time on the Schoodic Peninsula, here's what I'd tell anyone planning a trip:

The crowds are almost nonexistent. Even in peak summer, the Schoodic Loop Road feels like a different park entirely. You can actually stop, sit on the rocks, and hear the ocean instead of car doors.

The tidal pools are world-class. Blueberry Hill and the rocks near Schoodic Point have some of the best tide pooling on the entire Maine coast. Low tide in the morning is magic — bring the kids.

Sunrises hit differently here. Facing east over open ocean with no obstruction. No competing for a parking spot at Cadillac — just you and the water turning pink.

It's 45 minutes from Bar Harbor. Easy day trip, or use it as your base and do day trips into the main park. The ferry from Winter Harbor to Bar Harbor runs in summer and is a great way to cross without driving.

Fall is criminally underrated here. October on Schoodic with the foliage against the ocean is one of the best things in New England. Shoulder season rates, almost no one around.

Happy to answer questions about the area — I host a place on the peninsula and know the spots well. If you're coming with a group and want an oceanfront base on Schoodic with a hot tub and fire pit, feel free to check out acadiaoceanside.com
