Stepmother’s Tirade

I broke contact with my n-mom and most of my family 2 1/2 years ago. Only a handful of people know about the emotional, psychological, financial and medical abuse I endured. My parents divorced when I was 5. After no contact with n-mom I decided to stay in touch a little bit with my dad to talk about light subjects N-mom had always divided me and my brother from him. However I was never able to establish. an emotional connection with him. “Dad, can we talk about….?” “I have to go flip the burgers on the grill”. Suddenly the other day my meddling and religious stepmother (his wife) blasted me on text saying ‘Ecclesiastes says Honor thy mother and father. There’s a lady at church whose daughter ghosted her and she has to deal with that. My daughter (whom she says reminds her of me 😬) have fights but we make up. Therapists tell their clients to go no contact if it’s a ‘toxic relationship’. I had asked my stepmother and dad to not share any information about me with my mother or family. But they lost my trust. After my stepmother’s tirade I offered a brief response: ‘I’m an adult and make my own decisions. You’re out of line.’ She said, “Whatever!” My dad didn’t intervene. That was the end of it. Blocked. Bye, dad. Any tips on bouncing back from this? Thanks for reading.

PD for someone who’s Deaf

My boyfriend is deaf and will be starting dialysis soon. He’s leaning towards PD. I have some concerns about him being able to hear the PD machine overnight if something needs his attention, but also read that Deaf dialysis patients use noise alerts such as flashing alarms and bed shakers and manage PD just fine. Does anyone have more information about assistive devices for PD?

Food Delivery Service for CKD?

My GFR is 14/15 and creatine 3.6. CKD caused by lithium neuropathy. Pre-transplant, not on dialysis yet but probably will be within a few months. Due to fatigue, I’m not always able to muster up the energy to cook and prepare foods myself. I’m looking for a food delivery service that will deliver meals that are low sodium. I’m pescatarian. Is there a service that you’ve tried or recommend that caters to low-sodium diets, has foods that are nutritious, natural and unprocessed, and doesn’t cost an arm and a leg?

How do I talk to my providers about ‘that’ option?

F 59. II have CKD Stage 5, eGFR 14/15 and creatinine 3.54-3.57, all due to lithium neuropathy. Not on dialysis. I stopped lithium years ago but my kidneys continued to scar. I have a lifetime of complex trauma including medical PTSD. No spouse or kids, brother passed. Long story short, I don’t know if I have the emotional resources to go through this. The problem is, I need more information from my transplant team, social worker and nephro and want to ask about the option of not going through with it (not to say I’ve decided), but am afraid they’ll think I’m not a good candidate for a transplant if I ask. Advice?
