Could someone please confirm if this is correct regarding Maternity / Parental leave?

My Wife's due date is in December and I've looked at the Canada.ca Maternity / Parental leave EI benefits website and I think I understand how it works for the most part. However, I just wanted to confirm the below in case I misunderstood anything.

  1. My wife will take 16 weeks of maternity leave from the date our child is born. (Not taking any before our child is born).
  2. I will take 5 weeks of parental leave from the date our child is born.
  3. My wife will take 35 weeks of parental leave after her 16 weeks of maternity leave is over.
  4. Me taking 5 weeks of parental leave doesn't affect my wife's maternity / parental leave, and once her 16 weeks of maternity leave is over, she will still get 35 weeks of parental leave.
  5. All of this duration while receiving 55% EI benefits. We both have required hours.

EDIT: Thanks everyone for confirming!

This makes me extremely happy

A 39 year old man here who grew up with Gameboy pocket, colour, advance etc., I was overwhelmed with joy when I first booted this up on my steamdeck.

I played the remake for the switch but this here actually hits the nostalgia.

EDIT: I guess I assumed everyone to already know what this game is, but for those who doesnt know it's: The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening DX HD. It's a PC port and you don't need an emulator to run it. You can download the original release and then there's a patch someone worked on that further improves the game. What I did was download the original on PC, patched it with the update, moved all files to steamdeck on desktop mode and used Proton Experimental to run it.

Now that the price of Nova has gone up, is it better to just buy the RP6 if you don’t care about black bars for 4:3 games?

Edit: Even though the main games I’ll be playing will be 4:3 games

Thanks for the input everyone. Decided to go with the RP6!

PSA: the restocked $129.99 genuine LCD battery replacement from iFixit are 1 year old VDL batteries (not GETAC).

Just received mine. It's a VDL battery (not GETAC) manufactured 1 year ago - date highlighted on the attached picture.

I'm having second thoughts about spending this much money on a battery that's already this old and from the worse supplier of the two. I bought it trusting that I'd get better quality from iFixit.

I think I'm going to return it and try my luck with an aftermarket unit instead.

Are you noticing any annoying rattles in the 2026 model?

I have the 2024 and oh boy... This has been the rattliest vehicle I've ever driven in my life. I've been hunting rattles down and placing felt strips to eliminate them ever since I got the car. There's this one rattle somewhere near the A pillar when going over bumpy roads and it's impossible to pin point where it's coming from.

Anyways, how is your experience with the rattles, if any, with the 26? I hear it's significantly improved over the last generation. I have the gas model right now and thinking of getting the hybrid maybe in 2-3 years.

Has anyone used Maxi Cosi Oxford? If so, how is it? We've looked at Uppababy as well but seems a bit pricey [AB]

I found some Maxi Cosi Oxford reviews online but there weren't too many to really make me go for it yet. We are due in December and there is currently a sale on the travel system for $800. It seems like a great stroller for the price.

Some of our friends have the Uppababy Cruz V3 and it's a great stroller but it's a bit pricey. $1700 for the travel system. We could get the Maxi Cosi Oxford for $800, buy a all in one car booster seat and it still would be less than the Cruz V3 travel system.

We were thinking of maybe waiting for black friday but from what I've read in the past posts the Cruz V3 system don't get too much of discount and it only applies to discontinued colours if it's still in stock. Maxi Cosi Oxford seems to get upto 25% discount.

For those who used the Maxi Cosi Oxford, or are familiar with it, what was your experience with it? Should we go ahead and get the Oxford on sale?
