Found this great Napier collar necklace at the thrift, anyone know when it was made?

Anyone have guesses on when it was made? It doesn't have the circle copyright symbol that would have appeared in 1955 but I read Napier was a little inconsistent about that and didn't always include even after that year.

The foldover clasp doesn't help either, I feel like it could be mid century all the way through the 80s/early 90s haha.

Really pleased with this one regardless! It's so fun.

I originally assumed these were carnelian, but could they be bakelite?

Picked up at the thrift today so unfortunately I don't know any background info. I originally assumed these were carnelian but have seen some similar online as bakelite.

I don't have any simichrome, but rubbing a q tip with baking soda and water turns the q tip yellow, and it definitely also has a strong formaldehyde smell after running a bead under hot water.

They do not fluorescence, so I don't think amber.

It has a cute little gold filled box clasp so I'm confident it's vintage.

I haven't handled a lot of bakelite before so wanted to ask some more knowledgeable folks before I got overly hopeful haha

Edit: a little more info since I was able to check, it does not fluorescence or react to UV which I think rules out amber? Currently leaning towards Catalin after someone mentioned it since that seems to come in more colors and translucent-ness but keep the thoughts and ideas coming!

Necklace haul, including some cute vintage pieces!

Some fun finds today. I really enjoy collecting vintage costume jewelry and my local thrift seems to get a lot. The chunky carnelian looking necklace in particular I think is mid century.

I also think the lariat/Y necklace miiiiight be sterling liquid silver. It sure looks like tarnished silver and isn't magnetic but it's unmarked so 🤷🏻‍♀️ can't be sure without actually testing it.

The laboradorite necklace is definitely modern but I just really like laboradorite haha.

About $15.50 grand total! 🥳

Snagged a couple of Brahmin crossbody bags today for $40 (20 each!)

They're in super good condition, the interiors were immaculate so I kind of suspect these were unused.

Picked up some light, totally not haunted reading material at an estate sale

Couple bucks at an estate sale. I obviously went to the chapter about fairies first.

Just sharing another fun thrift find. Any Marvella I see online seems like mostly faux pearls so I thought this was neat and a little different. I think the beads might be painted lucite? Curious if anyone knows, I don't know much about Marvella and this is the first one I've come across in person.
