I recently switched to barefoot shoes especially with a wide toe box because of sharp bunion pain and because my toes started overlapping...

I know it takes time to adjust to the barefoot/zero drop feeling but is it normal to experience pain in the big toe? As you can see in the second pic it is resting under the second toe. It only sits normally when I stand firm. Maybe it is just the big toe not used to being solicited again when walking? It used to be squished for years because of non-adapted shoes...

Edit: thank you all for your valuable responses and testimonies. I also posted the same in the bunions subreddit and I got a wave of (courteous) attacks asking me to remove the picture and that they don't advertise the brand and most are even against the barefoot principle and that the brand has been facing lawsuits etc my intention was never to show the brand but the type of shoes I switched to seeking advice. I was a little bit surprised I had no idea there were people completely against barefoot...

Hi bunionmates!

My bunions developed a few years after I started dance school but they don't look severe. However 30 years later, the right one became extremely painful (sharp burning pain) even at rest. As you can see in the first pic, when I'm not standing feet straight on the floor, toes start overlapping...

I'm considering surgery but not in the short term as I cannot afford it right now, and can't afford to be immobilized for several weeks.

I started experimenting with barefoot shoes and wide toe box shoes and also orthotics.

Do these measures help slow down the progression of bunions or surgery is the only way to go? I heard that some surgeries damaged the nerves and I'm scared of that and losing the sensation.

I also heard there are exercises to do that help relieve and prevent worsening: any idea about where to find these exercises?

I have a painful bunion and am not considering surgery at the moment.

I have just received my first pair of Saguaro barefoot. I was so excited but then big disappointment: they feel a bit tight and my toes touch the front. I ordered my regular size EU 38 , US 7.5-8

I don't think they will extend more they're press painfully my foot and although I can move my toes I feel them hit the front of the shoe...

Should I size up a full size or half a size?

I removed the insole and stood up and now I realize they re really small...

Edit: I just measured my foot it's about 23.8 cm I shouldn't have relied on my regular shoe size.thanks y'all for ur replies

Hey nailies! 

Following the advise on different posts and reviews, and after I tried so many stuff...I think I found my magic combo lol

The set of press on I'm wearing are from Shein and they are great. But I also use other brands like Glamnetic or Kiss...

This time I used the sticky tabs from BTArtbox and they re amazing! Same wear and hold as in the imPress no glue Mani from Kiss. 

Last time I tried the semi solid glue from Curvlife: 10/10... But since I like to change often I opted for sticky tabs this time.

The glue remover from Curvlife is a miracle liquid! It dissolved the glue with zero damage to my natural nails...no fumes or bad smell...

My last set from Kiss imPress no glue lasted more than 2 weeks and I showered with it...the trick is to really avoid water or harsh movement the first couple of days. 

I will keep you updated about this set and how good or bad it holds with the sticky tabs mentioned
