Found this 30 minutes ago

Kinda shaken up, it’s my first time dealing with something like this so bear with me lol.
(The title says 30 minutes but I’ve been typing for a hour… yikes😅 so 1 hour and 30 minutes ago)

Any help/advice is appreciated!

I live in a 6 apartment building and I just found this 1 bug at 3am on the living room couch where I happen to be sitting. Google lens says it’s a bedbug.

Context: I’m never in the living room, I moved my mattress out here because I’ve been drowning it in bleach almost everyday of the week (my mattress is white and I split paint on it, bed was/is still a bit wet from the bleach). My room smells like bleach so I was doing another round of bleaching it in the living room with a power wash vacuum this time (I wanted to use the dry setting to get the bleach out faster, don’t ask). In order to bring my bed out I had to move a chair, a box of supplies, and blanket (all stacked on the chair) into the living room. I did 1/4 of the bed went into my room and laid on a sheet on the floor. Came into the living room and decided to bring the sheet and lay on the couch until it’s morning so I don’t wake the neighbors. More than 4 hours go by, and then I see it after coming back from the kitchen with a snack.

I want to figure out what to do and what I might have to get rid of. And a way to ensure I won’t have to get rid of more of my things in the future. I have checked my beds corners and a bit of the inside, I also checked the couch corners, and don’t see anything.

NOT SO FUN FACT: in middle school my cousin had bed bugs and they loved biting me but not him, so I’d like to think that that means there’s not an infection… yet at least…? (That’s me being hopeful as much as possible atp🥲)

Options on where it could’ve came from (honestly just want to see if my room might be the place it came from and how much I’d have to get rid of if it was tbh)

  1. My bed (haven’t slept on in over a week, currently covered in bleach)

  2. Was already on the couch (single seat couch, no one really sits on, they sit on the other couch next to it)

  3. i went over my grandmother’s apartment the same day i bought the comforter (she lives in a bigger apartment building that occasionally has had bugs, i don’t know what kind, I’ve never seen anything besides fruit flies, but she bombs the apartment all the time cause she doesn’t like bugs so idk)

  4. I have a pile of clean clothes in the living room (I moved a coat out the pile onto the couch a few hours before I saw it, also put on a shirt from the pile…)

  5. The sheet that was on the floor in my bedroom, I’ve been sleeping on that sheet since I started bleaching my bed and haven’t been bitten, and I didn’t see it when I was fixing the sheet onto the couch)

  6. Neighbors (l've lived here for 4 years, never seen one til today, all neighbors have been here shorter than me, but still months)

  7. I thrift occasionally and was sitting in my bedroom floor when I recorded a haul (it's been 7 days since I went shopping and the clothes went back into a plastic bag and has been waiting to be washed)

How bad is it, what will I have to check/get rid of, or am I jumping to conclusions?😅

In my room: (I can admit it’s a bit messy at the moment, very cluttered, but not dirty)
•stuffed animals
•blanket collection (I have a shelf full of blankets
•lots of comforters (I like switching my room up so I have spare comforters, one on the floor from where I’ve been sleeping since the bed has been wet)
•pillows (also one on the floor from where I was sleeping)
•clothes (I have 2 dressers full on clothes, and a basket of dirty clothes)

In living room:
•my mattress (do I get rid of it? Too scared to take it back into my room, but if it’s not the issue it might be better to take it back in there faster?? Or just buy a new one, but I don’t want to do that until the issue is solved cause it would just be a waste to keep throwing mattresses away)
•couches
•new Walmart comforter
•spare comforters for guests (it’s been a long time since I’ve had guests)
•removed a light bulb out the lamb and sat it on the couch while bleaching my mattress earlier (might not matter but I’m trying to think of everything)
•powerwash vacuum (haven’t used in a while, but I let the bleach run through the tubes before using it on my mattress to make sure it was clean, sat the handle on that couch when I took that break after I cleaned 1/4 of the mattress)
•clean clothes on the floor (it’s all wrapped in a sheet cause I broke my basket lol, I go through the pile every few days give or take)
• new purses/collection (near the new comforter and older comforters that were washed a while ago but haven’t been used since)

Rooms not included in the list:
•Bathroom
•Kitchen
•parent’s bedroom (sometimes sits on the couch in the living room, but not the couch the bug was found on. Minimalist room, 1 dresser, rest of the clothes/shoes in the closet, and a chair)

I am being eaten up by anxiety

If I have a recent bedbug infestation,

-how long does it take to confirm the presence of the insect?

I have inspected my mattress and bed edges repeatedly, and I found no bedbugs, no droppings, and no eggs. However, bites keep appearing on my body in the shape of a straight line.

-Do bedbugs have anything to do with birds? Because there are bird nests nearby.

-Should we spray pesticide now, or what should I do?

I'm not joking, but I'd rather die than be with this insect... I have a phobia of insects.

I truly cannot live with all this anxiety.

Possible bed bugs bites from traveling or something else?

First picture: torso, not itchy, appeared while traveling, slept with shirt and sweatshirt both nights in hotel

Second picture: forearm, itchy spots appeared over the course of two weeks after returning home

What should we do?

Hello all, we have a bed bug infestation in a building on a whole floor. My neighbor brought it when he took some campers to sleep at his apartment. He tried to eradicate them with some smoke bombs and when he used them they just spread out on a whole floor. I’ve tried calling the professionals to spray insecticides but it didn’t work and we still get bites from time to time. I’ve tossed out our bed(wanted to do that for a long time). My wife is pregnant 2 months and i really can’t stress enough more with this type of shit. Idk really what to do now, we are from Serbia if anyone knows what to do or suggest that would help. For 2.5 months we can’t live peacefully in our home. When i did throw out the bed and everything in the room i found 1 bed bug on the bottom of the bad and killed it immediately(satisfying revenge) and after that no bites for 10 days and after one night 1-2 bites both of us, immediately called pro’s to spray again. Like i said, what should we do?

Found this BUTT

Had bedbug suspicions, looked on mattress and could only find this thingy. Looked liked a bedbug butt/shelling but everyone I ask denies it. What do you all think? Thank you!

Bedbug bites?

I know the photo quality isn’t the greatest. I had a potential encounter about a month ago and I noticed these red marks on my stomach today. They don’t really itch like the bites I had before did, but could they be a sign of an infestation in the making?

Bite? On leg

On leg where it would be pressed to the bed. I sleep with covers on and arms exposed. Nothing in arms. Does not really itch unless I think about it. I can feel the bump but not see it. I had a bat bug in the bathroom sink yesterday, and was outside that morning in a river with many mosquitos. I’m paranoid but also this afaik is how I respond to mosquito bites too

Batbug?

Was alive in my sink, smushed it and no blood, just guts. Thin and small, do yall see the hairs? Not great photos, but I feel like it’s hairy

bed bug egg or nymph ?

Around one week ago i woke up with many bites on me, in the “bed bug” pattern. I immediately freaked out and checked my whole room. We found nothing (no poo, no skins) apart from 3 tiny white dot, which we had the horrible thought might be bed bug eggs because of their placement and grouping. we very carefully transferred them to a small container but they kind of conglomerated into one. Ever since I have been checking every day to see if something would hatch. today, there is a small “thing” in the pot, which is moving extremely slowly. With my eyes I cannot see any legs/cannot see it close up enough to tell if it is a nymph. With 10x zoom on my phone, i managed to get a photo but still can’t tell if it is a nymph or not. I am afraid to open the box to look properly incase it escapes, although it is moving so slowly I doubt it could. My question is would I be able to see the legs and head on 10x zoom or with my eyes? How long does a bed bug take to fully “hatch”? Do those photos look like a bed bug? The first two photos are of the “nymph” and the third is the “egg” clump that we initially found.

Final point, there have been no fecal matter or skins detected. Also I have purchased two of your passive monitors and they have arrived last night, I have emailed your team for best placement on my bed.

Thank you so much

Is this a bed bug and what to do

Found this on my shirt after sitting on the couch for a bit and flicked it into the sink. Family doesn’t seem to care saying it’s a carpet beetle which i highly doubt. Me and brother ran through all the beds couches shoes clothes clean and dirty, found nothing and are currently drying the sheets from the couch on high. But pretty much saw no poo husks or actual bugs anywhere, so what should we do next if it is a bed bug.

Please, are they nymphs?

My sister found these little bugs over our beds in a hotel in Lanzarote. We have slept here for the past 2 nights with no issues. Come back today to find these.

Bed bug or bird bug?

We have our house up for sale and found this bug on the wall by our front bay window, which has curtains. We had showings on Sunday and I'm terrified someone brought in and left a hitchhiker. We tore our house apart and found no signs of others in/around the couch, beds, or other window treatments. We had bedbugs in an apartment several years ago and I'm highly reactive to the bites so if we had an infestation, I would know. I'm so scared of going through the trauma again, especially since now it would seriously mess up the timing of our home sale and moving into our new house.

I can't zoom in my camera enough to show hairs, but I'm hoping the antennae indicate bird bug? To my eye, the last two segments are equal in length.

need help on identifying bites?

been a few nights now of relentless itching, i’ve checked my bed multiple times to no avail, washed all my bedding, slept fully clothes, socks, oodie, pants, on top of a different duvet, been through 2 tubes of itching cream and still i can’t figure out what the hell is biting me, it’s mainly my legs, back of the knees, front of the knees, inner thigh, outer thigh, calves, shins, hips, occasionally on the forearm or ankle super hard to see the dots which i think are the sources of the bites but any help would be appreciated i just miss being able to sleep 🥲 the little tiny dots are almost invisible if i don’t scratch them but it’s sooooo hard not to, they’re like teeny lil bumps sometimes a few together sometimes one random one on my wrist, im so confused and want to move back in w my mum because what the heck, mainly itchy at night and i notice it more in bed seem to get more in bed (i have a roommate who doesn’t have this issue and a cat who doesn’t scratch but sleeps peacefully next to me)

Found several of these on my bed- could they be bed bugs, ticks, or something else?

I found many of them on my bed, but I’m not sure what they are. Some friends think they might be bed bugs, while others suggested ticks.

I checked the bed carefully, including the edges and seams, and I don’t see any black spots, stains, bites, rashes, or other signs. The bed looks clean overall, but finding several of these is making me concerned.

Does anyone know what insect this could be?
