21,000 put on since I got her last year. <3 Where are you all sitting at?
First S15 I've ever seen in the wild! He had a cone intake and aftermarket exhaust plus a basic suspension kit, otherwise mechanically stock. Certainly not fast by today's standards, but definitely very cool!
Note that my hood latch is open because I was hand-washing my engine bay, there is nothing wrong with my hood/bumper fitment. =)
With the help of a supportive partner who made sure her girlfriend didn't have cataplexy and drown. <3
My thoughts... My thoughts are that this is... kind of dumb or I'm doing it wrong. My back and neck are on fire. I have a headache. My shoulders are stiff. The lower part of my body is hot and my chest and head are cold. The water is a strange smoky color. I freaked out a little when I climbed in and didn't quite know where the back of the tub was. Refilling the tub is a giant pain in the ass.
...But I feel strangely refreshed. And glad that I was finally able to conquer a longstanding fear of mine. <3
Sorry for the crappy pictures, I took most of them while my girlfriend was driving!
So I figured I'd stop by and ask before I commit to buying something, having it shipped, and realizing it's the wrong part; I'm not exactly made of money, so doing the timing belt / water pump is a big deal and will set me back a lot. I want to get it right, and I want the OEM or better-than-OEM part so I know it's reliable and won't leak.
Given that this is my first time having my car's water pump done, I have no way to check the part number; I heard that the naturally-aspirated RB25DE NEO has a different PN# than the turbos and I have no idea if they're compatible or what.
And before anyone asks, this car is my daily driver. I cannot afford to have my car dismantled, get the part number off the existing pump, then have it sit in someone's shop while I wait for weeks for the new pump to ship. I'm planning on making an appointment, showing up with parts in-hand, and having my car back within a couple days at most.
All that said, there are a few different part numbers around the place, but the one that seems the most "available" for R34s is 21010-21U26. More specifically, this one, sold on various sites: https://www.boostfactory.ca/products/rb20-25-26-oem-water-pump?variant=39302192005204
Some websites say that turbo pumps won't fit on non-turbo engines. Others say the NEO has different impeller geometry. Given that it's really hard to find RB25DE-specific parts in the US, does anyone else have any recommendations / advice so I don't purchase the wrong part? Thanks!
My current daily! Technically one of 274 built in this trim level -- that is, the facelift 25GT. Fully-loaded with options, RB25DE with 5-speed manual. Her name is Shutterbug. <3 She's a 2000 model year. 204k km and counting.
To put into context, when I picked her up at the dock, she was the first R34 I'd ever laid eyes on, and I've only seen one other R34 since then, and that was at a car show. I still have yet to see another in the wild, much less a totally stock example (albeit mine has bigger wheels and tires, but that's it). She's cosmetically a WIP (obviously) but mechanically 100% and rust-free, which is nice.
Ignore my Jeep in the background, she's photobombing. =)
