Built a free extension that adds a real Mini Player to YouTube Music

Saw quite a few posts asking for a cleaner way to control YouTube Music while coding, studying, gaming, or working without constantly switching back to the full tab.

So I built a solution.

YTM Mini Mode is a free browser extension that:

  • Adds a native Mini Mode button directly inside YouTube Music
  • Pops your music into a clean, distraction-free mini window
  • Lets you instantly return the player back into your main browser tab
  • Keeps playback uninterrupted during transitions
  • Works across Chrome, Firefox, Edge, and other Chromium browsers
  • Collects absolutely no data and includes no tracking

Available for Chrome, Firefox, and Edge.

Firefox:

Edge:

The project recently crossed 100 daily active users, which is pretty cool for a small open-source side project.

Built with vanilla JavaScript, CSS, and browser extension APIs. Fully open source under the MIT license.

Happy to answer questions, take feature requests, or hear feedback.

Built a free extension to fix the "block artist" problem this sub keeps asking about

Saw a thread on this sub recently asking for a feature to actually block artist and/or certain songs from actually playing on YTM. They haven't built it. So I built a workaround.

YTM Block is a free browser extension that:

  • Lets you right-click to block any artist, song, or album
  • Auto-skips blocked tracks the moment they start playing
  • Flags blocked songs in your Up Next queue before they play
  • Filters blocked artists off your home page recommendations
  • Keeps everything 100% local, nothing is sent anywhere

Free on Chrome and Firefox.

Been a Letterboxd user for years and kept doing the same thing, reading about a film somewhere, opening a new tab, searching Letterboxd, losing my place. Built Lettermarkd to fix that. Highlight any film title on any webpage and a panel appears with the Letterboxd rating, IMDb score, and box office data. Works on Reddit, Wikipedia, Google, articles, anywhere.

It's completely free, no account needed. Would love feedback from people who actually use Letterboxd daily, especially whether the data in the panel is what you'd actually want to see.
