Brake lockup and into the gravel

370z Nismo TT. 90mph into a hairpin. Hard brake. Skid.

Not sure is this was lockup or “ice mode”, but it bald spotted all my tires and busted my lower control arm rubber bushings trying to steer out of it.

Seems a common problem.

Do I need to upgrade to a race ABS Controller? Alternate fixes?

So I track my Z and recently went off the track going into a hairpin. My ABS failed and I skidded off into gravel, stopping a foot from a concrete barrier! Turning my wheels after skidding did nothing but help screw up my suspension. Popped some lower control arm bushings. Flattened the tire tread on one side. No other significant damage or injury, so that’s good! But decided to upgrade to SPL bushings while I was at it.

But at this point, my car’s been in the shop a month and half, first waiting on backordered bushings and tires, then waiting on a removal tool.

Now it seems like the oem rubber bushings have welded themselves to the sleeve somehow. Maybe lots of hard corners and heat cycles?

I’ve heard the differential bushings can be a nightmare, but are the LCA bushings also equally terrible to remove on a regular basis? Or is my car just special?

Best I can figure maybe the coilovers and other SPL suspension parts tightened things up and transferred more load into the bushings. Maybe they were just getting thrashed and heat soaked on a regular basis. I’ve only been to the track a half dozen times. Usually it’s just carving canyons and road trips. They shouldn’t be able to withstand 25 tons in the press and go nowhere, right?

Anyone got any hot removal pro tips?
