Cursed Technique: Downgrade

This one is simple, every attack you land on something, you downgrade it. For example if you punch gojo’s infinity, it becomes downgraded to be finite, and if you keep punching it, you will be able to actually connect an attack within a few punches. This technique also makes anyone it hits physically weaker and slower and their cursed energy less potent in addition to making their technique less potent. If you keep punching Mahoraga, you’ll unadapt him.

The reversal is that every time you attack something you upgrade yourself. So for example you can pregame a fight by using your ctr on something and come into the fight mega amped. The effects of this technique cannot be reversed unless you sleep and wakeup fully rested. RCT does not work to reverse this technique. However you can still nullify it with domain amplification.

The domain allows you to downgrade someone out of existence.

If this actually worked, would it be the same as using a roofie?

Just to clarify before some sour feminist comes here and tries to attack me, I wouldn’t use this. But I’m just curious regarding how moral or immoral it is to use it.

I had an idea about Korra

The thing about Korra that makes her underwhelming as a fighter was that her bending was effectively only useful as a power up to her martial arts skills and not as its own weapon. When Korra wins it’s because her martial arts skill was a lot better. That brings me to the idea that she should have learned chi blocking as well as weapon based combat both as ways of capitalizing on her strength as a martial artist over that of a bender as well as to consolidate her weakness as a rather underwhelming bender. And with the Kyoshi warriors having been taught chi blocking and the white lotus clearly having non benders in it like piandao, Korra could have been a much more effective fighter. It would have been a good skill for her to learn when she was stuck with only air bending instead of just immediately undoing the consequences. It would have given her to opportunity to grow both as a warrior and as the avatar in a spiritual sense as it took away the 3 elements that kept her most tethered and far from spiritual. And the best part would have been that it would all be in-line with her character.

What if we got a firebender that learned to use this?

Combustion bending’s big weakness is that it’s highly volatile and even a small disturbance can cause a lethal accident. What if a firebender in 7 havens learned to use short range combustion bending like this that doesn’t actually hurt them? Like maybe they failed lighting just like this and they decided to turn the failure into a success. This would give them excellent air and ground mobility, a strong defensive tool, a way to break out of restraints or a bender grabbing them with an element, and it could even be a powerful close range offensive move that would be hard to dodge or block. Do you like this idea? Do you think it has potential?

We need another goated Firebender

I want 7 Havens to bring us a truly skilled firebender. Most of the powerful firebenders we’ve seen are known for a gimmick, don’t receive enough screen time, had an insane mismatch, went crazy, or were strong because they pulled from the other elements instead of fully mastering firebending itself. Jeong Jeong got like no screentime. Zuko is only strong because his style adapts techniques from all of the elements and it’s not really his mastery over fire. Azula went crazy but had some amazing performances. Ozai was truly impressive but had the worst matchup known to mankind and he was STILL winning until Aang pulled out the glowy glowy cheat code. Combustion benders are gimmicky. I wanna see a firebender who mastered jet propulsion like Ozai, learned how to weaponize safer short ranged combustion blasts instead of the long ranged gimmicky one that we’re used to seeing, who can do instant lighting like Ozai, slice through things with their fire like Azula, sense heat and create massive constructs of fire and make illusions like Jeong Jeong, and use smoke bending like Roku but as a camouflage/disorientation tactic. We’ve already had toph and Kuvira, we had Katara yakone Amon and his brother, we had Aang tagah and Zaheer. We need better firebender rep with actual wins in the top tiers instead of the generic fireball spammer or someone who pulls from the other elements instead of being extremely powerful with fire itself.

I think firebending has insane potential and the reason that people think it’s weaker than the other is because it’s the hardest to master.

Let me start off by saying that all elements are equals (if we ignore the bullshit they did to fuck their powersystem over with bloodbending). Other bending styles make a strong bender through the right mindset. Earthbenders mastering neutral Jing, waterbenders learning to become as adaptable as possible, and airbenders being as evasive and creative as possible make them all powerful as benders of their element. With fire, its life and power, and much as it is in real life, power is only as useful as your ability to control its path and purpose.

Every single powerful ability that a firebender has requires immense control over firebending, jet propulsion, combustion, melting through big things, fast use of lighting (and just lighting in general tbh), firewalls etc etc. With a long era of firebenders bending in entirely the wrong way as well as most not having the discipline to learn proper control, firebenders as seen in the shows usually end up looking underwhelming. But clearly there are some strong tools for combat here.

If you recall, azula once sliced through a whole building, concentrating fire into a slashing attack allows you to breach barricades put up by an opponent. Also when we see zuko fail to bend lightning, he ends up performing combustion. Meaning that if a firebender can learn to weaponize that smaller more controlled combustion as opposed to the long range attacks that our 3rd eye’d combustion benders have, they can use it to great benefit in various ways.

For example, they can use it like Bakugou from MHA does a way to move with explosive speed, turn at angles and speeds impossible or difficult for other bending styles. Use it as a close range attack/way to break through defenses. Use it as a defensive tool due to the immense force produced as opposed to heat (ofc it will still be hot but the main use of using fire explosively would be force in this case). This bolster’s firebending’s offensive style by adding a ton of speed, agility, and close range power that abuses that speed and agility, while also doubling as a defensive capability.

Amid all of that jet propulsion is useful as a constant form of mobility, slashing attacks are useful for covering long ranges and making use of the heat in firebending to breach defenses, and just normal firebending as a way of controlling space and denying escape is useful as well.

If we recall, jeong jeong was able to sense aang long before he even saw him, and firebenders can sense heat itself, meaning that they can probably develop sensory capabilities akin to seismic sense if I’m not mistaken.

There is also the fact that jeong jeong is amazing at pulling disappearing acts. My theory about that is that firebending controlling life and energy, can control light as a form of energy, and if that’s the case, then they might be able to essentially become invisible by forcing all light the reflects off of them to reflect upward for example, or to scatter randomly as a way to make themselves invisible/hard to see.

There is genuinely a lot of potential that firebenders have and I hope to see a firebender who is able to make use of it someday. What do you guys think?
