Where to position climbing ball?

I ordered this climbing frame for my BP and wondering where to locate it!

He seems to prefer the warmer side to the cooler side, and I’m in a cold climate country so figured he is more likely to prefer warm spots overall. The right-hand lamp is a DHP which comes on at night.

Red - towards the top of the back, slightly left of centre.

Blue - similar spot but more likely halfway up (I’ve used cable clips on the wires but don’t want to ‘encourage’ him to mess with them!).

Black - also about halfway down but further away from the heat, almost central or ever so slightly right of centre. (That would be behind the greenery or I’d move the greenery elsewhere.)

Pink - fixed to the ceiling, slightly right of centre. (That white rectangle is a door wedge.

Plains - am I missing something?

So, I've had a couple of months away from the game (just life circumstances overtaking me) and feel a bit out of the groove. I'd got to the plains at that point, set up a little farm and taken like 3 fuling villages and a fair few loxen. Crafted new recipes, gear and weapons and upgraded them. Got lucky enough to find a Yagluth vegvisir straight away that wasn't even pointing too far away!

I've come back and done a fresh spot of farming and cooking and now started breaking ground into the plains area that houses the Yagluth altar.

But I can't help feeling like my progression in the plains has been a bit fast so far and I might be missing something? Here is my gear and food so far (all gear fully upgraded):

Root harnesk

Padded greaves

Lox cape

Drake helmet (there is another helmet available with plains mats, but it doesn't seem to give any better protection than the drake?)

Black metal sword

Black metal shield (sword and board is my primary combat preference)

Draugr fang bow for ranged, with whatever arrows suit the enemy or I want to get rid of. (Freeze is good for plains, but harvesting freeze glands is a pain in the arse, so most of the time I honestly tend to just use wood or whatever I've raided from chests - flint, iron, poison, etc.)

I also made a black metal atgeir to test on lox and fulings, but it's not really my cup of tea if I'm honest, so I carry the iron mace as my secondary weapon, purely because it's literally the only thing that does shit against the stone golems in the mountains!

[ETA: I've also tried Frostner, as I heard good things about it in the plains, but I just find it annoyingly slow compared to the sword!]

My axe and pickaxe are still iron IIRC but seem to serve me just fine (I haven't had to mine anything in the plains anyway).

I regularly stock up on medium health mead and fire resist mead.

I run a stamina build, with 2 stamina foods and one health. At the moment I'm using onion soup and bread for stam and lox pie for health.

It feels like I am missing some food/recipe? Still to be on onion soup at this stage? Also weapons and armour ... is there something I should be making in order to face Yagluth?

Things I know I have missed: tar pits (haven't got the hang of them yet, but I believe the tar is useful for building? But I am not getting too bogged down in the building yet ... I want to save that until the end, in the meantime just doing basic functional builds, so I'm not sure whether I need to bother with tar pits). And viles - I've stayed out on the plains overnight a couple of times in the hope of finding one but all I got was You Are Being Hunted, lmao.

What have I overlooked?

Gave him an upgrade!

I added cable clips to make the cables safer (they are sturdy but I don’t want him getting stuck on them!) and added a hammock for him!

Poop concern (how to know if impaction?)

My boy is 1 year 3 months and I’ve had him 5 weeks now. He is only 372g (due another weigh-in tomorrow!) so I’m still feeding him every week, and he’s taken every meal with me, 5 so far! But he hasn’t pooped yet, and I’m wondering if/when I need to be concerned?

FWIW, the rat fuzzies he was on when he came to me were only half of what he should have been having for his weight! I didn’t weigh him for 3 weeks as I didn’t want to handle/stress him straight away. So he had 3 weeks of like 15g fuzzies. Once I’d weighed him, I gave him 2 fuzzies the next week (32g total) and this week I gave him a single 31g weaner. All gone down the hatch no issues.

But yeah … 5 weeks no poop. He’s been pretty ‘quiet’ in his viv even at night (due to install a better camera tomorrow so I can check that properly though!) but when handling him, he has seemed to behave ‘normally’. A little tense at first as you might expect. No balling up, no hissing or striking at us, no sign of pain/flinching when we touch any part of his body, no weird-looking lumps or bumps, no sign he’s going into shed yet either (last shed 24 March). As you can see, no issues eating either, he’s been great at that, knock on wood!

My instinct is that he’s fine, but as he’s my first and only BP … I don’t need to be concerned yet about lack of poop, do I? I keep expecting it any moment now! What warning signs should I look out for that there might be a problem? I won’t hesitate to get needed attention for him, but I don’t want to stress him out with a longish round trip to the vet’s if it’s not necessary either!

Vivarium door fit advice needed!

I built this Habistat vivarium (pictured) just over 5 weeks ago. Today I opened a door fully to take my boy out and it almost fell inwards! On closer inspection, both doors seemed insecure in their runners! Is it possible the viv/cabinet has bowed somehow and caused this issue? What should I do? On Saturday I was planning some viv DIY anyway, so I will certainly try tightening any screws I can reach, but anything else? Anyone else had this issue?

The cabinet underneath is part of the same viv kit and bought together with it, so it should be good for holding its weight!

Second pic shows one example of the gap occurring at the top of one of the doors, and third shows how I’ve had to use the wedge to secure it. Fourth pic of my boy for snek tax!

Custom order and they nailed it!

I asked GemsOfLondon (on Etsy) for a snake ring to reflect the colours of my actual snake, and i absolutely love it! Just wanted to show it off here! The eyes are emeralds (it’s hard to see in this pic but his eyes are green) and the head is Smokey quartz and citrine. Soft stones I know, but nothing else gives that brownish colour.

Today was the first time I picked him up and held him, my first time ever picking up a snake! I’ve always loved them, but I let my daughter do our first handlings with him last week, since he is technically her pet. We have had him less than 4 weeks (didn’t handle until 3 weeks for logistical reasons). He was pretty chilled and a good boy, exploring on me a bit! I only kept him out for 5 minutes and he was ready to slither back into his viv but seemed pretty relaxed as well. I love him so much!

ETA he came to the local reptile store in mid-Feb at 1 year old. He weighed in last week at 372g.
