On paper, Jade is a nurse for the Polus outpost although they’re actually a vet tech with first aid training who is just another example of Mira’s budget cutting. Despite this Jade does their best to take care of the team, treating everyone with kindness and compassion. They are a very quiet and somewhat aloof person, although this is partly because of their secret.

Jade is an alien imposter, and has been for a while, being infected with one of the parasites shortly after arriving on Polus. However, they don’t kill since they believe they have a better chance of surviving if the other crewmates are alive.

Their ears were originally just a headband but became real ears when becoming an imposter. They can be very expressive but Jade tries to limit their movements around others to avoid suspicion.

She looks so disappointed.

Near the end of the trailer, we see Frye and the mechanic standing in front of a statue identical to the one Shiver was performing in front of at the end of the last Direct. We can also see the opening the snake-like mythic salmonid from the end of the Direct emerges from in the background. So it seems like each of these statues will be guarded by a mythic salmonid.

Also new Deep Cut music hype! Both solos for each member and a brand new group song. Nintendo please don’t take forever putting the Raiders soundtrack on Nintendo Music.

Scenario 1: a lone maple bug. He is curled up underneath a tree and is crying.

Scenario 2: a mantis. She’s slashing at the trees around her and muttering angrily under her breath.

Rules: Say which scenario you want in your first comment. No romance for either of them. No combat in scenario 1 but it is allowed in scenario 2, although no killing. They are both roughly human size although the maple bug is very short.

1. The compasses. These seem to be how we unlock new sections of the islands. We see one being earned after a successful mission, and we see two pointing towards a foggy area of the map.

2. A possible connection between Deep Cut’s clans and the islands? At the end of the direct we hear Shiver sing a song and see glimpses of her doing a performance in front of an odd statue that the exploration bot seems to react to by playing a song, one that it looks like Shiver recognizes. Is this just coincidence or will there be a connection between the Splatlands clans and these islands? Also will this mean there will be certain missions where we have to bring a specific member of Deep Cut?

Also Shiver sticking her tongue out because I just think it’s cute and funny.
