PSA: Don't rely on mid mission saves in the new campaign
I was playing the 4th mission of the new campaign >!the one where you control a submarine and have to sink a tender!<, and in the middle of it, my game froze and crashed. Luckily I had taken a save about 15 minutes earlier when I did a risky Harpoon launch against a Soviet ship, so I tried reloading the save but I kept getting an error saying it doesn't have a campaign to associate the save file with. That's several hours of progress gone, I'm gonna have to start the campaign from the beginning again. Maybe try only saving in between missions until they fix whatever is going on with this
How do I deal with succession while playing tall?
So I'm playing as the King of Scotland right now in the 867 start date, and I wanted to take over the rest of the British isles. But after that, I don't really wanna do too much more expanding, at least for now. My question is, how exactly do I deal with succession in this scenario? There's not going to be enough land for me to give out a bunch to my kids and still have enough left over for my core power base. Confederate partition just seems awful
Am I locked out of certain mechanics?
So I had a plan to start as a landless adventurer in Japan and make my way to Europe. I did that within the lifetime of my first ruler, and launched a coup in Scotland to become King of Scotland. However, now that I'm a few rulers in to my landed gameplay, I want to start more long term planning of my Kingdom and eventually Empire. I wanted to maybe get the Japanese unique government type and the Bushido tradition for foot samurai but as far as I can tell there is no way to actually get either. Both are intrinsically tied to the Japan title, which is on the other side of the world for me. Am I just stuck playing a worse version of Japan?
Help with landless adventurers
So I recently picked up all the DLC I was missing now that the Steam Summer Sale has started, and I wanna do a proper landless playthrough. I've never messed around with them much and I would love to do some grand globe spanning adventure of taking someone in Japan and getting them all the way to Western Europe. My question is... how, exactly? I tried being a sword for hire but all the contracts are schemes that take absolutely forever to complete and I am constantly strapped for cash. Am I missing something? How am I supposed to complete these various adventurer decisions that require me to do dozens of these contracts? How am I supposed to snowball properly and eventually take over my own realm?
I'm struggling with unrecognized powers
Any advice for starting out as a weaker power? I feel like I can get European powers off the ground pretty easily, I always have an educated and (relatively) rich starting point. I keep trying less developed nations like Persia or Japan though and just getting stuck. Low MAPI and terrible laws means I struggle to develop my economy, and they all have extremely entrenched landowners I struggle to break the power of. I have no idea how to do the early game. Almost every guide mentions doing corn laws but you can't do that anymore
Struggling with Japan
For the life of me I cannot get Japans early game down. I keep getting stuck on 7/8 Tenpo Reforms done, unable to pass lax status order or bring Chosin clout above 10%, and I'm not sure how to properly navigate the restoration afterwards. I've done a few playthroughs as them, and I have yet to find any kind of consistent way of quickly modernizing. Every attempt ends in civil war, failed Imperial Restoration journal entries, failed Tenpo reforms, or other catastrophes. I struggle to get off of Sakoku if the Opium War fails, I struggle to properly liberalize due to how powerful the landowners are, etc.
Not to mention I feel like I'm struggling to build a proper economy, the low MAPI is horrible. This is my first time really trying to play an unrecognized power and I cannot get them off the ground at all. I've tried looking up guides but even trying to follow them I end up failing. All of these economic and political issues are just leaving me with an extremely frustrating experience.
Any advice?
How do you play France?
I don't understand how to get France off the ground. I'm not even 10 years in and yet I have massive revolts, half my population are radicals, and everything is extremely expensive. I don't even know what I'm doing wrong, everyone just hates me.
I know France had a lot of internal issues IRL but I don't know how to combat this
Constant MP crashes and OOS issues
I’m trying to play Victoria 3 vanilla with 3 friends of mine, but it’s constantly throwing errors. Every few years we’ll get an OOS error, sometimes immediately followed by a crash. Is there any way to mitigate this?
HoI4 mod recommendations?
I was playing some TNO lately, and I realized that I absolutely loved fighting Cold War proxy conflicts across the globe. Are there any other mods that can do something like that as well, but are actually fun to play in MP? TNO MP isn't really all that great, and I would love to fight great power proxy conflicts against an actual person instead of the AI
A friend of mine and I wanna play some Vic 3 coop, are Austria and Hungary a good coop playthrough? We loved how you could play Cuba and Spain together really well, but I'm worried that Austria and Hungarys journal entries will actively conflict with each other
