Clamato Caesar variety pack
Has anyone seen these in a Toronto-area store lately? I bought a case earlier this year, bit haven't seen them for several months.
Sure, I can buy a bottle of Clamato and make my own, but that means having them for several days since nobody else in the house likes them.
I'd settle for smaller cases (there's a 12-pack at the LCBO), but buying 30 is marginally less expensive. I'll also take Matt & Steve's instead of Mott's, if they're available. I've looked at Overlea, Markham, Richmond Hill, and Queensway, but no luck.
I go t a nice gift yesterday
I now have a Murdoch scarf for when winter comes.
Then and Now
When posting photos, please remember the name of the sub: Toronto Then And Now.
There have been a lot of "Toronto Then" posts lately. While they're interesting, they don't fit the theme of the sub.
What was the best joke they didn't make in the series, but could have?
I think it was at Sheldon and Amy's wedding. They could have introduced Georgie to Will, explained that he was in Star Trek. Georgie would say he never saw it. They would add that he was in Stand By Me, and Georgie would say he never heard of it.
Vancouver in stamps
As promised, here are a few shots featuring stamps that feature Vancouver, accompanied by the real-life image, or something related. The last few are of paintings in the Vancouver Art Gallery.
No recommendations?
As the title says, I'm not seeing any recommendations for bots on the web product.
They're not on the app either, but I don't recall if they ever were there.
Reminder - buyer Beware!
I recently attended a show while I was away on a vacation. I had taken my want lists with me so I knew what to look for, but I made the mistake of trusting the dealer's descriptions. The number of stamps that were listed as MNH that were in fact hinged was especially annoying. I bought almost 200 "102" cards, and 10 of them were hinged stamps that were listed as not hinged. Next time, I'll be checking each stamp individually, just to be sure, even from dealers that I know are more careful. Another dozen of cards were misidentified, so I wasn't getting the stamp I expected. Unfortunately, my lists only contain catalogue numbers, and usually the dealers at least identify properly. One of those errors worked out OK, as I also needed the stamp anyway, but too many were just added to my duplicate (or in a few cases) my "use as postage" pile.
TL/DR: Dealers can sometimes make mistakes, whether accidental or otherwise. It's on us to be sure we're getting what we pay for.
Just got back
I just got home (Toronto) after spending a week in your city. I had a great time. Everyone I met was friendly and helpful. I found the city easy to navigate (thanks, Google Maps) and the bus system both reliable and affordable.
I especially liked the respect for rules I noted with cyclists sticking to their lanes in Stanley Park. It's a lot better than it is here.
Thanks for a great vacation. I will definitely be visiting again!
I'll be visiting Vancouver next week and I'm planning a trip to the downtown location. Are there any local specialties I could look for that might not be available in Toronto? They'd have to be light enough to carry back to my hotel, and to safely carry in a suitcase (so BC wines are probably not an option, unless theyre in plastic bottles), and not require refrigeration.
Toronto subs are full of complaints about it. Can I expect the same when I visit next week? Or are establishments there a bit more reasonable?
Edit to add:Yes, i know it's optional, and I can enter whatever I want. That's what I do now. I was genuinely curious if it's just as bad there as it is here.
