Here I am. Again. At this point, searching for a long term writing partner has become less of a hobby and more of an annual migration pattern.

I just want someone who also enjoys taking perfectly functional fictional people, handing them several avoidable problems, shaking the container vigorously, and seeing what happens.

I’m 21, UK based, and write anywhere from literate to novella depending on what is actually happening. Sometimes a scene needs 600 words. Sometimes somebody pauses halfway through making a cup of tea and apparently I need to submit a small dissertation explaining why. There is no in between. I don't want the entire story revolving around one single element or interaction. I want our characters to actually have lives. Jobs. Families. Friends. Responsibilities. Goals. Problems. Hobbies. A favourite takeaway where the staff already know their order. A car that's been making a concerning noise for three months that they keep choosing to ignore.

I want something where we start with a vague idea and six months later we're discussing the implications of an event neither of us had even invented when we started. I want plots that actually move. I want consequences. I want character development. I want stupid decisions. I want characters confidently announcing that they have everything under control approximately twelve seconds before everything becomes considerably less under control.

I want families with actual personalities and histories instead of conveniently spawning whenever the plot requires a parent. I want friendships. I want workplaces. I want recurring locations. I want inside jokes that make absolutely no sense anymore because they originated 200 replies ago. I want tiny details becoming important months later completely by accident. I want one of us to casually reference something that happened ages ago and the other immediately appear OOC screaming: YOU REMEMBERED THAT????

I also need you to understand something extremely important before contacting me. I use Pinterest irresponsibly. I will find houses. I will find apartments. I will find outfits. I will find restaurants. I will decide what their kitchen looks like. I will find the exact stupid little coffee cup sitting beside their sink. Nobody asked me to do this. It will happen anyway. At some point I will send you a board containing 184 images and say something incredibly helpful like: "okay hear me out" There will be no further explanation. As far as characters go, my main OC will always be a woman (sometimes i play male characters, but I'm more picky), but you can bring whoever you enjoy writing. I genuinely love hearing about people's OCs, especially the ones you've been carrying around in your brain for an unreasonable amount of time waiting for somewhere to use them.

This time I'm specifically looking for a modern vampire story with a gothic, small town atmosphere. Think endless forests, old legends nobody quite believes anymore, missing persons posters slowly appearing around town, suspiciously pretty people who only seem to come out after sunset, and everyone insisting everything is completely normal despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary.

The basic premise goes something like this...

My character has just arrived in yet another small, isolated town tucked away amongst miles of woodland. She has purchased a huge abandoned manor deep within the forest and, because apparently centuries of life don't cure terrible financial decisions, she's determined to renovate the entire thing herself before moving in properly.

The locals think she's just the strange new woman living in the creepy house everyone avoided for decades. She lets them think that. As far as she's concerned, she's the only supernatural creature left in town.

She is very, very wrong.

Whether your character is another vampire, a werewolf, witch, fae, hunter, or something entirely different, I'll happily plot together. The only thing I'd really love to keep is that they are almost painfully opposite to my character.

She's quiet.

They're sunshine.

She's emotionally unavailable.

They're somehow determined to make that everyone else's problem.

She actively avoids getting attached to people.

They've apparently decided becoming part of her life is now a full time occupation.

Even worse...They're fated mates.

Unfortunately for them, Iris would rather pretend fate doesn't exist than admit it might have a point. Of course, she's not exactly making a brilliant first impression. Not long after she arrives, people begin disappearing.

The town is small enough that everyone notices. The timing is... unfortunate. The obvious assumption is that the mysterious newcomer living alone in the haunted manor has something to do with it.

The awkward part? They're right. Mostly.

Being a vampire means feeding has to happen somehow, and she's survived for centuries by making difficult decisions she'd rather not explain. Whether the disappearances are entirely her doing, whether something else has followed her into town, or whether an even bigger threat is lurking in the woods is something I'd love for us to develop together.

Because Iris isn't just hiding what she is. She's hiding from someone. Or perhaps something. She's spent centuries constantly moving, never staying anywhere long enough to put down roots. She insists it's habit.

It probably isn't.

Whatever she's running from is patient enough to wait decades before striking again. And she's beginning to suspect this town wasn't chosen by accident.

A little about Iris...

Centuries ago she was born into a family of monster hunters before being betrayed by the people she trusted most and forcibly turned into the very thing she'd been raised to destroy. She's had hundreds of years to become very, very good at being a vampire.

She owns galleries wherever she settles, paints under countless different names, has accumulated enough wealth to never worry about money again, and possesses all the terrifying abilities you'd expect from someone who's survived for centuries.

She's incredibly composed, intelligent, observant, and difficult to read. Very little Internet presence.

She also has the emotional availability of a locked bank vault. Which is exactly why I'd love to pair her with someone who smiles too much, talks too much, adopts introverts against their will, and generally treats her endless attempts to push people away as mildly inconvenient suggestions.

Beyond the romance, I want mysteries to unravel, secrets to surface, ancient rivalries, supernatural politics, morally grey characters, creepy forests that absolutely contain things they shouldn't, found family, recurring side characters, emotional slow burn, and enough drama to keep us emotionally compromised for the foreseeable future.
