Monash or La Trobe for Speech Pathology?

Hey everyone

I applied for the bachelor of speech pathology (honours)

at Monash and La Trobe as an international student and

have received an unconditional offer from La Trobe

(waiting for Monash to respond).

I'm juggling between the two, which one should I choose

to study at? I would appreciate your guys' advice.

Shouldn't broom the floors after maghrib?

Salam,

My parents raised me to believe that you shouldn't broom around the house at night. I don't know why, but you just shouldn't. They claim it's actually in the sharia.

Is this a superstition or is it actually a part of our sharia?

P.S. I am Pakistani. Just felt the need to include that.

Nothing materialistic blessed on 10th Muharram

Salam,

I registered for a very important exam recently, but didn't realise that the date I booked for was the 10th of Muharram.

I'm aware that nothing materialistic and wordly is blessed on this day, which is why you should abstain from every wordly thing.

I can not reschedule it either. It's non-refundable, and I paid a large amount.

I know I didn't do it intentionally, but I'm worried that my exam won't go well or something bad might happen, God forbid.

What should I do? Will my exam not go well because the day isn't blessed?

I saw somewhere that it's haram (?) when a non-muslim says assalamu'alaikum to you and you reply back with wa'alaikum assalam. Instead, you should reply with 'wa'alaykum' only. Is this a sunni thing or do we have this belief too? And if it's part of our belief system too, can someone explain why it's haram?
