From Bach biomedicine to JD law masters ?

Long story short I did biomed in hopes of getting into research and did my honours and figured out I hated it. I also can’t get any jobs that pay above minimum wage with just my bachelors with Hons.

My gpa is good (3.0) and I’ve been thinking of applying to the Juris Doctor of law just as something to get a decent paying job in, maybe even get into medical law.

Has anyone done this? What was your experiences? And were you employable after?

Someone copied my assignment from a public class forum — what usually happens in cases like this?

I’m really stressed right now and wanted to ask if anyone has dealt with something similar before.

One of my assignments required us to post our work on a public class discussion forum that everyone in the course could see. Recently I discovered that another student copied my post almost word-for-word. They only changed a few words, but the structure, writing style, grammar patterns, ideas, and even the references/citations are basically identical to mine.

The forum clearly shows that I posted mine earlier than they did, and I’ve already emailed my professor explaining the situation. I also told them I don’t know this person at all and have never shared my work with them privately.

What’s making me especially anxious is that this assignment is connected to my final project, and I really don’t want someone else using my original ideas.

I haven’t received a response from the professor yet, so I’m worried:

  • How do professors usually handle situations like this?
  • Is it likely to affect my grade even if I’m the original author?
  • Is there anything else I should do to protect myself?

I still have drafts, timestamps, and other evidence showing the work is mine, but I can’t stop stressing about it.

should i still apply for med

i just got my isat results back and i’m absolutely cooked (overall 174). tbh it’s my fault for not taking it in 2025 resulting in me only having around 10 days of preparation
i have met the minimum requirements but i’ve seen ppl saying that 177 is the lowest score for an offer on reddit, so should i save my money and not apply for monash med or still give it a try?

I saw Gaytwink-69 at Chadstone Coles today.

I saw Gaytwink-69 at a Coles in Chadstone today, petting an otter. I told them how cool it was to meet them in person, but I didn’t want to be a chud and bother them and ask them for photos or stories or anything.

They said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?”

I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Bruh, what?” but they kept cutting me off and going “bruh? bruh? bruh?” and flashing their phone with the Monash study app in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard them chuckle and open instagram reels immediately as I walked off. When I came to the coles self-checkout, I saw them trying to put, and walk out of the store with like, fifteen milo bars in the otter's hands, it was insane.

The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Gay-twink. You need to pay for those first.” At first they kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but they eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter.
The Otter was also put on the conveyer belt.

When she took one of the bars and started scanning it multiple times, they stopped her and told her to scan them each individually “To prevent WAM deduction.” and then turned 360 degrees to face the otter, and winked at it. I don’t even think otters are meant to be out of water. After she scanned each bar and put them in a bag and started to say the price, they kept trying to pay with the Monash $50 giftcard on their phone. Like several times.
I think they even called monash connect, and gave the phone to the otter while on hold.

Unit Selection Help — Bachelor Of Biomedical Sciences BMS3990 difficulty?

Hey guys.

I'm coming into my third year second semester. Just wrapping up BMS3031 — Molecular & Mechanisms of human diseases. Thanks to summar and winter units I have the privaledge of underloading.

For my second sem I have BMS3052 — Biomedical basis and epidemiology of human disease lined up. I also wanted to do BMS3990 — Research project in conjunction with BMS3052.

So I wanted to know is the workload manageable with BMS3052 and BMS3990 taken together? I do not have another elective slot to fill in as I have done winter units before.

I also wanted to ask what the difficult was like between BMS3031 vs BMS3052. I found BMS3031 quite content heavy and time consuming so will BMS3052 be the same?

Thanks for sharing your thoughts and I appreciate any advice or help to make my final decision.

Monash Library Staff Noise Complaint Training

It’s been a consistent issue across this sub and among students that quiet spaces are loitered with people not following the social cues and norms of the dedicated areas. Although the staff is very understanding and helpful, sometimes handling this sort of behaviour requires more than one-off asking to lower their noise level. It also requires prompt response and fairness. Most importantly, it requires monitoring and follow up, as many people resume the behaviour as soon as staff leaves.

I do think staff need additional training on this matter and clear reporting guidelines that actively monitor the rules of library rather than passive reporting.

BScience to BPsychology

Hello! I’m a first year student and I’m just finishing my first semester of a bachelor of science. I want to swap into bachelor of psychology but this course transfer isn’t open until the end of the year. I didn’t get the Atar to get into a bachelor of psychology but so far my grades are going okay, but I still have no idea what my wam will be. I’ve called Student Connect to ask what they predict the wam will be to transfer into bachelor of psych and they have said around a 65. I’m just finishing the units Psy1011, Psy1013, Psy1014 and the elective sci1000. What electives should I choose next semester to help me get a wam good enough to transfer into bachelor of psychology? The core units I am doing is Psy1023 and Psy1024, but I have two free electives. Also, I’ve been accepted to go to GIG what electives will GIG take up? In my course map I have one free elective in year two and one free elective in year three, will GIG take up both of these?

Special con pending for tomorrow's test

Hey everyone,

I came down with severe food poisoning yesterday and haven't been able to study at all for my 35% test tomorrow. I submitted my special consideration application yesterday with a valid medical certificate, but it’s still pending.

I asked my TA if attempting the test while waiting for a decision would void my application, and they essentially told me that if I sit this test, I won't be allowed to take the deferred one. Now I'm stuck having to make a decision by tomorrow morning. If I take it, I'll definitely fail since I'm completely unprepared and unwell.

Has anyone at Monash been in this situation? How likely is an approval with a valid medical certificate? Should I skip the test tomorrow and wait for the deferred date?

depressed

recently I’ve fallen into a depressive episode and that’s… not great timing because it’s currently week 11, and I’ve got like 60% of one unit still to go (exam and two assessments), 10% of another (assesment mostly done), 35% of another and 30% of another. Wtf do I do. I genuinely am so upset that im ruining uni like I did year 12. I also want to transfer courses so I need a wam of 70. Currently my grades have been mostly fine (high distinctions actually! Except for.. like two) but… im a very all or nothing person and its looking like im going to only pass these assessments, but I really don’t wanna wreck everything. Should I just suck it up? Probs. Idk anyone who’s been in the same position pls lmk because im struggling to get out of bed and go to classes i dont have to or even do my assessments and ik this is so bad. I don’t think i can get a medical certificate to get extensions either, considering my parents disappointment so im just gonna thug it out. I lowkey feel like im not made for uni.

Halfway through gap year what do I do?

I feel like I’ve forgotten everything I learnt in high school and I feel like my English skills are regressing with how much more I’ve been speaking in my mother tongue

Are there any suggestions on how I could utilise the remaining half-ish year I have left ?

Top floor of the law library today

So sick of people not respecting others. If you want to go and talk do it somewhere that is not a dedicated study space.

I have no idea who was talking but this was how loud they were when I was on the other side of the room.

I do not want to go and harass them I'm simply venting my frustration at the clear lack of respect for others.

If you can be heard through my music in my headphones you are speaking too loud.

I usually avoid this floor like the bubonic plague but there wasn't a lot of room on the third floor with charging points.

EDIT: This was not addressed towards one particular individual/group, this was about multiple groups doing to where the audio is only meant to show how loud it is in a designated silent study area. Over the course of a few hours I saw staff instruct a noisy group to go down to the first floor and after they left staying there and continue to be loud. Another staff member (a lecturer I think) came out of their office to go and tell people this is a quiet study space. I'm not a confrontational person but the point is that it is ridiculous that so many people are so blatantly ignoring other people and refusing to change behaviour when confronted.

MAT1830, SCI1020, or STA1010?

Choosing between these 3 electives for semester 2, however there's no openings for MAT1830 at Clayton (unless someone transfers out).

For context, I'm trying to boost my WAM and am currently enrolled in SCI1020, but I fear that it will have really subjective answers that I'll lose marks on, or alternate definitions (e.g. using a name other than 'independent variable').

MAT1830 has a lot of overlap with VCE Spesh, so that kinda acts like a WAM booster because it's all old content, but I need someone to transfer out to get in.

I could transfer into STA1010, because I heard it's like SCI1020 but more math heavy. But every reddit post I've seen says SCI1020 is more of a WAM boost so idk.

What should I choose, SCI1020 or STA1010?

And can someone transfer out of MAT1830 at Clayton please 🙏🙏😭 !!!! (If it's available, I'm taking that over both of the others.)

Gig appeal,

Does being unable to procure kosher food count as an extenuating circumstances? I’m Jewish and my parents would never forgive me if I ate nonkosher food abroad. My top choice definitely has multiple ways to procure kosher food.
